Why can't we test the new gear sets?

To ZOS, care of @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and @ZOS_GinaBruno:

I checked back several pages and didn't see a thread based on this issue, so my apologies if this is redundant, but, why do we not have templates that start with a huge number (thousands, hundreds of thousands, a million) telvar stones so that we can buy and test the new gear sets?

We can already test acquiring/losing stones in combat, but it takes too long for most players to get enough in the short time this patch is being tested to get the large number of stones for buying full sets, especially multiple sets. With a starting cache of stones, we could test the vendors that accept them and the new gear. Or is the patch just going to go live with hardly anyone having used any of the sets and some sets completely untested?

Please in-game mass mail (like the system used for hirelings) an attachment with loads of stones to player accounts on the PTS. Thanks for listening.

PS: Fellow players, do you agree? Do you want to be able to (extensively) test this gear on the PTS?

They are probably confident with the sets implementation and I don't think there has been any set problems before? Still, it can't hurt for us to test.

I would like to test the new dropped sets as well.

Who knows what kind of bugs might make it to live otherwise

There are a lot of new sets, not just one or two, so, yeah, it stands to reason they should be tested. It definitely can't hurt

For example:

Do they work as the tool tip says?
Are there glitches?
Does the tool tip sound better or worse than it really is, especially in actual combat ("this needs nerfed", "this needs buffed", "this needs to scale off of...", etc).
If they do work as intended and are useful, under what circumstances do they work best? Or worst?

PS: Why no soul gem stash with templates for testing a PvP zone with really challenging PvE dungeons? Send those, too.

This is not the only week for testing. Like the champion system, testing here will likely come in waves where we start with our base characters, and then another test where we are given everything to see how it plays.

I just wish they'd answer my ticket asking for current item sets I want to try on my character that I don't have on live :P

The PTS is not a true beta test, it's more of a UAT. They're less interested in your opinions on the features \ balance, and more interested in the stress testing and glaring exploits that may be found. Outside of that, community feedback has had little effect on the game for about the past year \ year and a half.

For any real feedback to be effective, half the front page has to be filled with similarly themed rants. THEN they may change based on community feedback.

Maybe, but either way it doesn't hurt to bring this up in case they weren't going to make the gear available.

I would agree with this. There should be a box of TV stones available in the inventory along with the gear and consumables. And soul gems - they were definitely in the last PTS template inventory.

Gems were there for 1.6 PTS but even though I am NA I made a template this time to check what they gave us. They did give better gear, the kind people actually use in PvP, but no gems.

They also need to test the drop rates and general time it takes to get some sets. So they're being tested that way right now.

Sure, but the two things aren't mutually exclusive. You can still report on drop rates while having 200K stone in your bank from the starter pack they send you
