Hello Everyone and welcome to my first night of writing about my experience inside the Imperial City on the PTS! Let me start by saying I'm a newer player, bought the Imperial Edition in April and am still working on getting to max level. Currently my main is a VR8 Magicka Templar, Corpsage The Blackened. I will also reveal to anyone reading that this is really my first PvP experience inside an MMO. I'm no noob to MMO's or gaming, lets get this cleared right up. I just dont have the desire to kill other players, I'd rather team up to take on a huge boss. So with all that on the table lemme tell you what I thought about my time spent in the Imperial City this evening.
At first I decided to chance rolling in with my VR8 Templar for my first look at the new content, little did i know I'd be half the level of the mobs roaming both the Sewers and inside the City itself. Needless to say I logged out pretty quickly after seeing that and made one of the "Template" Characters. The "Template" Character starts at VR14 or level 35 depending on if you want to play Vet or Non-Vet PvP. In addition, I was allotted 300 total Champion points (normally i have about 68) and since in this instance I created a VR14 Character I was also given 267 Skill points to work with. In addition to ALLLLLL that, I got these handy-dandy Urns in my Inventory that gave me the BEST VR14 gear in the game along with Glyphs to enchant it all to my liking. After assigning my Skills to their respective bars, Equipping arms and armor I felt I was ready for my first taste of Xivkyn blood. Oh, how I was wrong....
Upon entering the Arena District I was able to snipe a few solo players who were trying to fight some of the mobs but met my Shooting Star and Spear Shards. After getting ganked myself I was greeted by a welcoming committee of spawn camping Ebonheart players. After 10 or so respawn attempts I delved back into the Sewers where I fought my first round against the Game Crash boss. There were a great many crashes in the Sewers. Fighting a mob of 2, Crash. Running around with nothing but enemy (NPC) corpses around, Crash. Load back in, Crash. Unfortunately this was not my only encounter with this foe but its p-T-s, these things happen but ultimately its what ended my session tonight.
Although I suffered through more crashing and reloading than actual playing this evening that didn't stop me from exploring the majority of the Imperial City as well as the Sewer system. Both are visually stunning just like the rest of the game and are PACKED with enemy mobs who are TOUGHHHH. The new roaming bosses even more so. The new enemies have new challenging mechanics, but I wont spoil them for anyone who hasn't been there yet but I'm sure people are already talking about them on here elsewhere. The PvE side of this is extremely cool and I'm eager to play more, the PvP is even cooler.
"Street Brawl-Style fighting" is what was said about how they wanted this to feel and it is very much that. I spawned and even though right away confronted by the enemy its fun, exciting and fast paced so you want to keep pushing to see just how far you can explore before getting ganked or zerged. The lag and crashes were real though and as fun as all this content is, it absolutely must be fixed properly before it gets released for purchase. Hell, Cyrodiil and the Group Finder should probably get fixed before this is released, but we'll see what happens as time passes.
Overall, this new content is AWESOME. It's a great addition to an already great game and I cant wait to play more tomorrow night!
Cheers and may the Eight guide you!
