Voice chat not working

I just bought new headsets (tritton plug & play model) i want to check that the mike & headphones are working for chat (they are working for game sounds perfectly) but attempting to connect to an open voice channel and im receiving an error message which suggests i come here for further information, but im unable to find any!

    i tend to find that re-logging usually fixes the chat. sometimes it goes away and randomly comes back. hard to tell

    thank you for responding, i logged out/turned off for a few hours - so hopefully when i go back i can finally talk in game! LOL
