Why veteran ranks should not be removed...

So much complaining about having to work to get to max level.

There is a lot of content in the game, so you complain there is too much.

I bet in other MMOs, when there isn't much and endgame comes too fast you complain about that too.

It does not take 'too long' to reach Vet 14 at all.

And whilst once a hardcore MMO player, I am not anymore, so I appreciate the difference.

Complaining about Cadwell's Silver & Gold is like complaining about quests... and if you can complain about quests, which are actually very well done in this game, then you need to consider playing something other than MMOs - because quests are central to them.

I mean that's about as obvious as it gets really, but some people act like they've got no idea that's the case.... amazing...

    Greetings Everyone.

We understand that people are going to disagree from time to time, but please remember to keep your comments respectful at all times on our forums, even when you disagree with others. Insults or other disruptive behavior do not help further discussion and can move a thread off topic quickly. We encourage sharing opinions, but we ask that they are constructively stated when doing so, as this will help keep the discussion on track. Thanks!

The company could stop threads like this by giving information though. It's been said that they are going to be removed for a long time now. Nothing else. No word when. No word of how gear already obtained will scale. Nothing. If who ever is in charge would just answer some basic questions, it would put a lot of threads to rest.

The thing is they won't communicate until they have at least a beginning of an idea... Then you have people starting a gossip saying it will be reset to vet1 or it will be changed that comes witout communication... Like A.Rodgers said RELAX. it's a game. noone will die IRL because of it

@Attorneyatlawl - I still haven't seen any response to the ideas that I put forth that directly answered your question. I've been attempting to get feedback for a while now, and I do value your contributions and responses, and want to see what problems there are that make a simple thing seem so out of the box. However as such, I've been unable to garner any reactions. It is a genuine question, so I figured I'd try one more time. It is directly related to the thread, and directly related to what is being discussed- perhaps I should have posted it directly in the first response, which again was not an attack- there have never been any in my responses. But attempting to get past that (which I wouldn't even worry about without the escalation- I'd just assume that you didn't want to respond. But with your responses, I figured I couldn't stop trying to at least end on some sort of amiable stance, without some sort of direct response.)

    Thoughts?

@ZOS_Racheal okay not to be rude, but there have been multiple discussions on this subject so much so that its causing a war in the community, and you just comment be nice!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! how about some clarification like is this happening? Or what will be the compensation if it does happen? These are the things you talk about during a discussion, not delete someone's comment because you don't like! Besides its y'all's fault in the first place these kinds of discussions happen. People love this game at heart and what have yall given us? Delayed content? More veteran ranks when yall are trying to get rid of them? Ohh my favorite, useless incremental patches that have not done anything, I'm still having trouble with audio when I fight a harvester! All yall do is talk talk talk but when will yall be like ***(the shoe company) and just do!- rant over with

The problem with veteran levels has nothing to do with how many there are or how long it takes to get through them. The problem is what you're forced to do to get through them (Cadwell's Silver/Gold).

If XP were balanced so that as soon as you hit VR1 you had the option of doing balanced PvP, pledges, Cadwell's Silver/Gold, or grinding then you could essentially start end-game at VR1 and progress at an even rate no matter what it is you choose to do. Then the veteran system would be nothing more than vertical progression in the form of new stats/skill points/gear while doing the same content you were doing before.
Couldnt agree more, its what makes me log off in the evenings because I have no urge to level ANOTHER character in this horrid system where all exp was smashed to pieces with a nerf bat.

I have ESO Plus and my VR Leveling is going quite fast. My Sorcerer has gone from VR6.1 to VR11.8 just doing the first 4 zones in Gold (she was parked in Glenumbra prior to 1.6 and was just recently unretired). My Templar is already VR6 and she still has the 3rd Zone in Silver to complete. I fully expect the Templar to be at Max well before Gold is finished, and the Sorcerer should be at or close to VR13/VR14 by the time she is done with Bangkori, as I am gaining almost two VR Ranks now per zone. I do a little grinding, but mostly questing.

Could it be sped up? Sure, but I am in a situation now where all the loot I get is way below my level. Which is OK, as it is all Vendored or Deconn'd anyway, but it would be nice to get my Shiney's on Level.

Speeding up the progression is fine and all, but what about the loot? Should that scale? If so, then that would mean there would be glut of VR14 gear driving down prices. But then again, normal non dungeon set VR14 gear is cheap anyway.

What they really need to do is create a grind area in each zone and let those who want to grind, grind. And those who want to do content can keep doing that. Keep everything the same as it is now.

The problem I have with your statement is that you seem to be happy repeating quests, which I am arguably jealous of that ability. There are players that have done the quests plenty and don't particularly wish to do them again(or for a second or third time) One dedicated grind area wouldn't work unless they change the way XP works as any more than two people attacking something sees a massive drop in XP gains. That is why you have people guard the locations of their grind like jealous secrets.

If they reworked the XP to have better payouts across the board, adjusted the amount of XP required per vet rank (with the max being the 1 mil we have now for v14) I wouldn't mind at all if they left other things the same. I personally wish they would allow you free access to both cadwells silver and gold right from the start it's not a complete non starter so long as the XP payouts are better.

Ultimately I see a lot of lost opportunity with the implementation of vet zones and what we really need now is something that can minimize the negative aspects that many players are experiencing.

Ultimately, I think the issue is partly the vet levels. 1mil per is nuts, but also what players need to do to get to those levels. If there were more content to play, I don't think we'd have nearly as many dissatisfied players.

I don't know why ZOS doesn't level the player to all zones. So, if I'm a VR1 player that goes back to a starting zone, I should be leveled down to that zone and I should be able to earn the appropriate amount of XP for that zone to make the XP earned appropriate for my VR Rank. I really dislike how going back to previous zones is all but useless. Sure we can get achievements but we should be allowed to grind those zones as well.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Well, I know this is outside of what they will probably do, but I don't see why they had to do the whole dream of Meridia bit. Instead of leveling you up when you go back, allow the character to travel to the *other* veteran zones. That's why I said unlock all content after VR1. It would give the Veteran areas (which are pretty devoid of players for the most part because of how long it takes and how many people they dishearten) more life, and a different experience. It should also let you flag yourself for PvP, but that's a different conversation. I just don't like that unless you're in Cyrodiil, you're playing a different game from people in other factions... even though you're going through the same content.

I wouldn't mind seeing them bring down the xp required so that you can hit VR14 at the end of silver, then make gold a solo VR14 area so that we have something to do as an extra way to gain better gear for dungeons, trials, etc., earn extra skill points thru questing and skyshards, and earn champion points. This way they have a solo area to grind and a group area (craglorn) to grind, this would make us solo questers much happier.

I want to be able to experience end game content someday, with the system the way it is now I usually get to VR 4 and get bored with the slow progression and end up quitting the game for a while.
