Support Class for end game

eric22santiago_ESO
In every MMO I play I roll a bard or bard-like class but in ESO there is no CLEAR cut class that provides this ability so I've been theorycrafting a support class for end game. My highest class is a Dk which is lvl 20 and to create my 'bard' I have to reroll a different class and start from ground zero. So I'm hoping to get a couple answers to justify rolling a support class or should I just stick with my DK.

In end game do you find yourself with butt loads of magick and/or stamina based on your build (magicka-based or stamina-based) or do you run out enough of either that if another class fed you magicka/stamina it would be a boon to you and would be welcomed?

Would a moderate increase to damage along with a large increase to crit dmg be beneficial and welcomed? Or do encounters not last long enough to benefit from a decent damage increase?

Would extra run speed be welcomed in dungeons/trials/over-world? Or is it not needed for whatever reasons gaps in between fights too short, teleportation, quick travel, etc.

My build I crafted would also have some crowd control (another feature of bards) in the form of an interupt, some stuns and fears, etc.

Basically all I'm wondering is how feasible all this would be. Thanks for any responses in advance!!

People run out of stam more than magicka from what I see.

But as far as the ultimate support class, I'd probably say Templar.

Repentance and shards is what Templars run as support for tanks and stam DPS. Templars also could run siphon spirit on a resto bar and elemental drain on destro- these would be for Magicka dps.

That would be strictly for a support class and strictly for helping people gain resources back. There's lots of other abilities that would also aid in supporting the raid.

Yup, Templar is definitely the way to go. What I'm wondering is if it will help in a group situation. I would be sacrificing some dps to ultimately boost the dps of the rest of the group, along with other things, but the boost has to be substantial and warranted for it to be feasible.

Magicka nbs provide a lot of mitigation and off healing type support, but because you only have 4 person groups it's hard to justify running a support build over a dps build.

For some non-class specific skills, things like:

Restoration staff - siphon spirit: Will help a little with magicka recovery for each ally that attacks that target.

Assault's War Horn buffs everyone's max stats and depending on morph, critical damage too.

Support's Barrier can add a giant damage absorption shield.

Rapid maneuver a good group hate, however, you may end up waiting when you get to the next group due to recovering resources.

I think if you take on this support role, you will likely be expected to be the healer too of a four folk dungeon and even on Trials.

Could you explain what you mean by this a little better?

I agree! I've looked at it a thousand times and it is possible it may be more effective as a healing support class rather than a dps support class. Right now this is my 'DPS' support build. I just don't know how hard it will be to heal and buff together. But I also don't know how much DPS I'm sacrificing to do this as well. Nor do I know if this build is optimal dps. I have the bow included for interrupts and mainly for dps. I also agree that with only 4man groups that the increase in dps may be trivial.

Not sure if there is an easier way to link my build but any help/advice would be appreciated! I LOVE helping the group be stronger, it's what's fun to me.

I want to keep it ranged (not sure if melee would work) and if I went healing I could add more resto.

Thing is, if you want to dps, you have to more or less just dps, lest you gimp your damage output (ofc you will use stuff to buff your damage). If you want to be a support, that's usually the healer's job and to some extent tank's. I main a templar and i usually heal. But no healer should only heal, you always have support stuff to throw in between heals.

any class will do, but best i think it's Templar.

but many non-templar skills are buff/debuff for groups. heals, for example, can come from weapon-resto staff, or Alliance War - support lines. then buff can come from guilds or undaunted.

    there's a LOT of options.

one point i was running my DK using sword+board and resto bar, and i'm basically what other games called "off-tank". i'm part healer, part buff/debuff, and part tank when the main tank is down.

basically i'm the one holding everyone's hand when *** hits the fan.

I would say dk? With resto/destro. Put on the resto staff combat prayer and igneous shield. Gives a absorb shield, gives resistance and gives a 13% dmg boost. Kaablaammmm

You can add more support skills if you want but then you lose to much dps. Just switch weapon fast cast the 2 spells and switch back and dps!

For trash you can put talons on the resto bar. Gives aoe dmg and let them do 15% less dmg. On destro staff elemental drain for returning mana. This are some spells I can think of at the moment ^^
