The Khajiits are only good with builds putting an emphasis on stealth and physical damage. None of their passive affects magic damage (unless you play NB with Shadow Cloak). It's also the race with the least statistical advantage in the entire game. So you will never be able to catch up with more magicka proficient races like Breton, Dunmer or Altmers.

But if you like to play a magicka build, it is totaly possible to play a Khajiit and be viable but you will always be at a disadvantage when you try to compete with someone using appropriate passives for his build.

Seriously, don't build a character just due to stats. That won't work in the long run. Don't do it.

Pick a race, class, and gender you'd like to play, something you want to have. Create a character you can get attached to.

In the long run it won't matter whether it will do 5% more damage or not. Even just a random lag spike will most likely cost you more damage per second.

Even if you're a perfectionist, the *best* character won't work if you don't enjoy playing (or alone looking at) it.

    So, so true.

It's odd how the "roleplaying" aspect in games has become more and more prominent in terms of mechanics, yet less and less meaningful in terms of the spirit of the thing. Obviously, I'm not talking about "hail fellow well met" chat 24/7, but just that basic sense of falling in love with a character and being that character in the game, seems like almost a lost art these days. It's all about abstract "achievements", bigger numbers, etc.

I applaud ZOS for trying to buck the trend at least a bit with this game, it's clear that they've made a conscious effort to put the RPG back into MMOS, and the virtual world to front and centre (e.g. with the minimal UI out of the box).

This one thinks your title means a "good STAMINA DPS or good Magic DPS".?

This one says you have two choices:
    1. Play how you want and do either on the character you build.
    2. Let someone else, usually a mini-maxer elitist, tell you how to play.

The second sounds so much less fun.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

I agree, this is good advice for players new to the game.

One more thing, since some will also look at the whole passive thing from raid requirements aspects.

I'm in a rather eager raid/trial running guild and there are ranks and requirements, e.g. something like "you'll have to be this tall to ride". My build is far from perfect, also I don't think I'm really perfect with my skill rotation, etc.

Despite that I've yet to see anyone saying no to some character due to their race. In general it's really just "you must have x health, item y, and do at least around z dps", but they won't kick someone out due to missing like 50 health or 75 damage.

If your guild does that, you're clearly in the wrong guild.

You will play many different styles on your long journey to VR14.

I started out with my dark elf sorc on release thinking he was going to be casting spells with a staff until I fell in love with medium armor and bows with pets and then later dual wielding daggers with heals and shields. I stopped playing after a couple months but now I'm back and loving a slightly tanky build with heavy armor and a destruction staff!

Pick a class and race that interests you for more than just it's numbers.

My friend Anti plays a bow khajiit NB and is incredibly lethal in both PVE and PVP. Probably most outstanding dps I've seen post 1.6. Wouldn't be so quick to rule out that carnage passive they have. Up to 15% increased dmg on successful crits. That + shadow and you're talking khajiits crit around 20% harder than other classes. Yeah I'd say it's pretty viable.

In general it is good to know more or less what kind of build you are going for, at the end. Example, I wanna be a healer in raid or other role of your choice. When you have this idea and know what you want, you can take a class that support magicka based builds, with max mana, regen or cost reduction of magicka spells. With softcaps removed, it means a great deal actually - to me at least. It's not about others, I have to have the best setup. I know Im not alone in feeling this way, especially in regards to ONLINE games.

Now on your road to veteran14, you can do ANYTHING you like. Actually, I think you should've tried ALL class skills and a good part of the morphed as well. Try out different weapons, staves, melee, bows, shields! And make sure that you have for instance 5 pieces of your primary armour slotted, and then 1 piece of the other 2 types - with a training trait on. You never know what you like and its ncie being able to switch roles and combine and see the potential of each armour type. And you dont have to put passives for trying out a resto a couple of levels. But read the passives and think about possible synergies for you build - this to me is the best part, considering you role and how to be better (and yes, this includes racials).

If you want to play the game as an online single player game, and dont do any endgame stuff or if you're not competitive in this way - it doesnt really matter. You can be a khajiit healer and it will work.

Have fun and try a lot of different stuff/morphs/lines - some are suprisingly cool and you can find some good combo's if you look!

If a group fails in a trail, then not because you do 5% less heal as a khajiit...
Jeah softcaps being removed an so on... still a 10% ressource pool increase comes out to less than 5% damage/heal increase
I still promote the idea not to have racial skills but birthsign passives which let's you pick i.e.4 passives that fits your playstyle from a pool of 20 or so

I play as a Khajit, cause i wanted to be one. Never regret it.
Played magicka dps, tried even a healer, hybrid, stamina build, ... You can play how you want, the most important thing is that: you enjoy your game.

There isnt any thing wrong with Khajiit at all. 1.6 has created a lean towards stamina builds in places, true enough, but there is still plenty of fun to be had.

Heres some example PvP from a pesky kitty if you're interested. Khajiit is bad? um no.
