Any Heavy Armor (HA) PvP builds out there?

billywink3b14_ESO
I'm tired of wearing LA or even medium. I know it's stupid to most but I love the look of heavy armor but I cannot find any great PvP builds using Heavy Armor. I'm interested in being very "tanky" as I understand DPS in HA is pretty "meh" so there is no need to tell me again that I will more than likely not being able to kill anyone haha!

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it! I LOVE all the classes so that's not a huge factor, although i have not had many experience with a DK so a build for a DK would be cool. I'm of course tanking throughout PVE while leveling as well.

But if anyone could link me some nice PVP HA builds, any class, I again would greatly appreciate it!! Thank you :)

I have been running full 7 heavy Templar Magicka based for a while. In PvP I have been nothing more than a nuisance as I look to delay people and drag their attention while others do the proper killing. As a VR10 it was very hard to kill anything of similar level or above.

However, I have been following 1.6 very closely and went into PvP once I had setup my gear/skills/cp. Fair to say, I am now killing VR14 as I now have an execute and my survivability is significantly higher than others.

I have a bar for distance high damage and a bar for bunkering/close range.

My distance damage bar has the following on it... radiant magelight, structured entropy, dark flare, crushing shock, radiant oppression - with ice comet as ultimate.

My bunker down bar has... purifying ritual, structured entropy (or immovable), burning shield, puncturing sweep, breath of life - with empowering sweep as ultimate.

My gear is 7 heavy. Health enchant on the 3 big ones and magicka on the others. At the moment I am using 5x Magnus, 4x Seducer (includes 2x ring and neck), 2x torugs pact. Jewellery enchants have +spell damage and +Magicka. Fire Destro staff with spell penetration. Use re-inforced on my armour.

I run with +health and +magicka food (don't know name now, used to be sweet roll). occasionally use the purple tri foods if its a really good battle to get more stamina.

Champion points I have equal points in heavy armour focus (more AR/SR) and bastion (More damage shield) in LORD. I have all points in magician of TOWER and equal points in elfborn (more crit damage) and spell erosion (more Spell Pen).

In cyyrro I got about 3.2k health and with high natural AR/SR and running radiant magelight you no longer get insta-gibbed. That means you get time to swap to bar 2 and bunker down a little if get jumped.

I try to play in my damage bar as much as possible and that is when I am in control. dark flare opener from stealth followed up by a quick crushing shock (As typical first move is to try cast a spell to counter and this also adds DOT). structured entropy to get 2x +20% damage increase.... then jesus beam them. I may also dump some magicka with a crushing shock light attack weave to get their health to execute phase if it is a particularly good player.

If they remain at distance then great... you just keep using your distance damage. If they get close you pop burning shield and use puncturing sweep... no issues.

With this I have gone from being cannon fodder on the battlefield to winning in 1 on 1 duels against VR14. When NB used to jump me I was gonna die.. now I don't and can survive and go back on offensive. When DK used to dump on me I died, I now don't and can get back on offensive. I now have an ability to jump people myself (even in full heavy armour). I now have an execute that I can pick easy targets off in large scale battles (i.e. hang back and as you see people drop to 50% health then unleash jesus beam to kill em off).

I am still only VR11 but played in cyyro quite a bit. In my opinion it is still more about how good you react and what positional sense you have as it is about skills you have. If I went gungo *** with a jesus beam and got isolated and get far outnumbered then my bunker down bar will just delay the inevitable death unless I get some people to come help me out. I like it that way, you need to think smart.

When I get to VR14 I might swap out soulshine for a 4 piece set with more spell damage and not restricted to VR10 items as it isn't quite as good in 1.6 as 1.5.

As for DPS then I can only judge myself by how well I can increase my 1 second spike damage against like for like mobs when out doing quests and grinding mobs (which I do to level up). My best is something like 24,000 DPS which is a reasonable opener.

I am in 7 heavy in pvp :)

dk ebon set + blood guise.

40k health, 58% reduction in block, 88% dmg mitigation, ultimate ever ~10 seconds (take flight) its really fun.

    Bar 1 is s+s

pierce armor, shield charge, GDB, talons or caltrops, absorb magic

    bar 2 resto

spiked armor, igenious shield, combat prayer, ward ally, immovable brute

Also give 1k health to everyone in my party just for being near me ;)

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

No point in doing Heavy Armor till they fixed Nirnhoned just negating 100% spell resist.

You'll basically instant die from that.

It's not nirnhoned. It is the formula for Spell Penetration which means you need relatively little of it to offset most peoples spell resistance. The more you have though the better chance you don't get it all penetrated.

Plus - they will tone that down by adjusting the formula I would imagine.

The extra AR is also very useful for the popular 2H sneak attack that you get jumped with.

How did you manage so much HP m8?

Prior to 1.6 i had around 3.1k HP, now i'm sitting on 24k...

Most my enchants are stamina, except for chest and shields they have health enchantments..

Playing a DK dark elf btw...

Blood spawn set + footman + hist bark

Imperial + 52 points into health + 7 pieces of armor + pvp bonus + ebon set + purple food + structured entropy.

I forgot that on my s+s I use structured entropy to bump me to 40k instead of caltrops or talons. It depends on my mood.

Without it I am at 37,268, with 39960..

yeah, the ebon set is one of the rarest drops in the game and it only comes randomly from dungeon bosses, so if you don't have any get ready to grind your face off in vet dungeons for quite some time to get it.

You get some cool red orbs that lets everyone know who's boss though ;)

It's not nirnhoned. It is the formula for Spell Penetration which means you need relatively little of it to offset most peoples spell resistance. The more you have though the better chance you don't get it all penetrated.

Plus - they will tone that down by adjusting the formula I would imagine.

The extra AR is also very useful for the popular 2H sneak attack that you get jumped with.

Its Nirnhoned..It ignores 100% spell resist.

You can say this but you are wrong. I have read all the threads about it. It isn't nirnhoned, it is the formula for spell penetration.

Dont try to enlighten JD. These forums are full of speculations that are unfounded because one know it all posts some info that is not founded and gets the ball rolling.

I still crack up when I hear 'Oh you have to run at least 4 impen to survive in PvP' . No folks the ratio for impen was never what was suggested, it worked like spell resistance then. I never wore ONE piece of impen and I survive just fine.

Truth is most of the time they look at something to find out why they feel something is wrong, and they dont use scientific method to prove a case. They just say "Oh look here I have a screenshot, it supports what I think, so I declare this as fact"

Nowadays I am sure HA is much more viable in PvP. the extra resistance is very helpful.

However, that is all I know:( I plan to make a HA 2H at some point, so I will have to share my findings when I do:)

And yet, you are still wrong... You can run full heavy with no spell pen, equip nirnhoned and ignores 100% spell resist. It takes like 2 seconds to test.

and in that test are you and others, by chance, applying the potent nirncrux to your weapons... which give increased spell resistance and SPELL PENETRATION?
