Suggestion: Critical Surge

Critical surge, arguably the stamina morph of surge, although good is not amazing. The morph merely increases the healing by around 20% which does not help the situation with stamina sorcs being ludicrously under performing. I would like to suggest adding the major savagery buff when active to this morph. This would mean that stamina sorcs have this one ability that although it does not provide an edge over other classes in terms of dps it would free up a slot that would otherwise be used by expert hunter. This would mean that stamina sorcs would have more room for utility compared to nightblades who have to keep up the new haste which I forget the name of, the reapers mark and have the expert hunter on their bar if they wish to maintain optimal stamina dps. As it stands, my stamina sorc only has two abilities which are useful for stamina and I would say both are required which is the bound armaments and crit surge but with the addition of expert hunter this only leaves two ability slots + ultimate.

I would love to hear opinions and just to clarify I don't want stamina sorcerers to be the best class for stamina dps by any means I just want them to have their own identity and have some kind of reason to play them over a nightblade, templar or dragonknight come 1.6.

I read that post on shock damage and although it would be awesome it wouldn't fix a lot of the gaps between sorcs and other classes on a stamina level.

I'm only concerned (like many others) that Entropy is so much better than Surge. Critical surge is not the problem, Surge itself is the problem.

I myself would never play a Sorcerer as melee DPS anyway. But I respect those who try  I think, Surge itself should deal shock damage on each attack. That would also help melee damage.

I can understand it from a magicka point of view needing an increase to push it over entropy (it is a class ability which I feel should be better) but I still don't think that lightning splash damage would help melee builds that much at all. The problem for stamina sorcs is the lack of utility not the lack of damage abilities. Running boundless storm is arguably the same as what you suggest for surge only difference being that it wouldn't proc dot effects like valkyn.

That suggestion would be great for aoe dps and clearing PVE but if that was what crit surge was changed to I would probably change to magicka which I really don't want to do. It is probably very different in magicka builds but from my perspective as a stamina build (have been on templar, nightblade and sorcerer since launch) it just wouldn't work.

Surge isn't the problem its the combat design team. They have no real direction when it comes to Sorcerers. This is literally the only pure ranged class that doesn't rely on melee range to be do damage.

Really though I agree with your suggestion, there should be a damage buff on Surge. Right now this class line skill which was once a staple for Sorcerers is now being over shadowed by the Mages guild skill line.

From previous PTS builds all they are concerned about is placing a proper CD on surge that won't completely break it.

Yeah I agree that they are more concerned about the CD but it shouldn't be to the stage of not even having a staple ability on your bar anymore. Crit surge is arguably sorcs biggest advantage over other classes (in 1.5) however in 1.6 it is overshadowed by momentum and entropy. There is now nothing for sorcerers that makes groups choose them instead of just picking up another nightblade or templar. I could see 12 templar trials being run soon.

Uhm no, that's not what I meant at all.
I simply mean, that each of our attacks deals extra shock damage. Not splash damage, I haven't said anything about a splash.

For example I shot with a bow and deal 1000 damage + 200 normal shock damage. That's it, a simple and brilliant change :)

Made suggestion for Sorcerers ability morph for bound armor, bound aegis to have major mending buff when active once I heard about Ingenous Shield providing a major mending buff.

A pure tank class DK can now heal better then the pure ranged magicka class that is the sorcerer.

Pretty hard evidence to support the theory that the combat team just have now clue on the direction for Sorcerer.

It's close to the release date of 1.6 going live and I am pretty worried that this class will be much more worse off for an entire 6 months to year before they do another major patch.

Edit: Surge needs to be addressed, and quite frankly so does the entire direction of the sorcerer class before they release this patch or another PTS build!

Ahh now that makes more sense, the other post I had seen was suggesting that attacks do 15% damage or so as shock to enemies near the one you light attack, and that would just be useless in my opinion hahah.

Once again, I could see that being great for magicka but not so much for stamina, like I said, stamina builds require lots of buffs and utility and having three required buffs (like nightblades) kind of limits building options and doesn't provide any boost over nightblade or templar. At the end of the day, if they increase damage, sorcs are either better or worse than the other classes instead of having unique strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah that's what I'm getting at with this thread, they have no real strengths, they may be good at some things but all three classes do it better so what's the point?

    Healing: Templar<Nightblade<DK<Sorc
Magicka DPS: not entirely sure but think it is Templar<DK<Sorc<Nightblade
    Tanking: DK<=Templar<Nightblade<Sorc
    Stamina DPS: Nightblade<Templar<DK<Sorc

I wouldn't expect anything for Sorcerers. It goes online soon. I doubt, they will be doing anything else than fixing bugs.

Oh now way they are being fixed before 1.6.

1.6.4 will be last PTS patch and then live patch will be minor numbers change and some bug fixes, same as it always is on content updates.

Perhaps, but I think they picked February to give them a cushion incase of severe problems with testing. I found it odd that this was so far off from the march console release. At most perhaps two weeks into march.

The only way I would agree with this patch being released is if they agree to the suggestions of and get everything fixed by the end of next week.

There isn't proper testing, because of the damage bugs and exploits.

It would be incredibly ignorant to green light this for live.

It will be green lit because if it isn't they wont be able to get console release and ESO+ out on time which have hard release dates.

Entropy is OK, but no one would even be talking about it if they removed the cooldown on Critical Surge heals.
