Siphoning Attacks & Transfer (Passive)

Hello,

Does Nightblade's passive 'Transfer' grant Ulti when an attack is made with Siphoning Attacks toggled on ?

Would prefer an answer from someone who has tested it him/herself.

From what I've seen: it doesn't. It would be far too overpowered if each strike gave you two ultimate. When I swing repeatedly, I get nothing except one point eventually for damage or whatever source it's from.

I'm assuming by "toggled on" you mean the DoT effect that some skills do have upon the target? If so, then Yes it does add ultimate points for those.

If you meant it differently, I can help you to answer it with a more clarification of what "toggled on" means.

I was refering to this skill; http://esohead.com/skills/36935-siphoning-attacks
My concern is that the skill itself doesn't deal any damage and dus will not grant the additional Ulti from Transfer passive upon attack. 'Toggled on' as in Enabled and then using one's equipped weapon to attack.

While as a player that only plays Nightblades of all builds I have to say no matter my play style if I use siphon attacks and take a 22% reduction of spell and weapon power on all the powers I use and have Transfer then I should be able to get my two points about me ultimates ultimate from all attacks because transfer procs from all siphon damage siphoning attacks makes all my powers siphon in a way it's not fair to get an across the board self debuff from a siphon power and not get my siphon bonus.

1) Siphoning Strikes is already a rather powerful skill and doesn't need any improvements.

2) It doesn't deal any damage, why would it proc off a passive that triggers when dealing damage with a siphoning skill? Your basic attacks are doing the damage, not Siphoning Strikes.

But Siphoning Strikes reduces the damage I can do while it is toggled and since any Attack has the 10% chance to Proc the 15% Magica and stamina then in a way I am attacking with insert power and siphoning attacks therefore I am both doing damage with siphoning attacks and doing less damage because of so I can even text siphoning attacks so I should get the two points of transfer Like I said I run 8 Nightblades all using this power but some charge ults casters then others I received a siphon depot but not a siphon bonus

Again, because Siphoning Strikes doesn't do any damage. It simply reduces the damage you deal in exchange for resource sustain. The raw bonus of it is actually pretty amazing. Typically it results in ~10% reduces damage output for some pretty amazing sustain. The real downside is the opportunity cost of tge skill slot it uses up and the active skills you're not able to use.

Yeah you're not attacking with siphoning strikes. It's not an attack, it's a self buff type of ability.

siphoning attacks is a debuff not a buff in any sense of the word and because it's on all the damage you do is reduce so although yes technically I'm not killing them with siphoning attacks It is a part of the damage being put out so it should be counted under the transfer bonus plus side note by doing less damage you generate less ultimate

Actually, it can be considered a buff, as it regenerates resources for you. That's why I said a "self buff type of ability." Technically it would more of an EQ2-style Paladin stance, where you gain one advantage at the loss of another. Which is still considered a buff.

A debuff is something placed on an enemy that makes it more vulnerable to attacks or weaker in some way.

Siphoning Attacks is not part of the damage you're putting out. At all. It's a buff that returns resources to you based on attacks. It doesn't deal damage, therefore it can not and should not net you ultimate from the Transfer passive.

I understand your points I really do but using Siphoning Attacks will make even a glass canon hit blow average with a cost like that the only reason to use the power is to spam the only AoE Nightblades have (Sap Essence)

If the power is not counted toward transfer and it cuts the ultimate you get because of the fact that you're not hitting as hard because of the damage decrease the 22% debuff should be lower.

As it stands you have to make your toon a glass canon just to get normal damage stacking weapon or spell power to use one power so you can use the few AoEs from weapon lines or the one AoE that we have as a class power

This power needs a buff either a decrease in the debuff or it should generate ultimate

I find it extremely powerful in certain builds. You can basically be in combat forever and not run out of resources. So in a way you generate ultimate faster because you are spamming sap essence more. Hope that helps

1.6 is nerfing that hard now we will only get 2 points ultimate every 6 seconds being have so much in your resource pools but hitting significantly lighter you can fight longer yes but, even more so now you will gain significantly less ultimate in 1.6

Can someone tell me how you'd set up siphoning strikes with a dual wielding nightblade for decent sustain? 5/2 Medium/Light Siphoning Strikes, Dark Cloak, and what else?
