Why do (some offensive) dots still break cloak

I don't mean persistent ground effects.

I'm running around leveling up and both the lethal arrow poison effect dot (really small dot after hitting with lethal arrow) and poison injection break cloak. (these are dots on mobs, not me)

I'm not sure how many others there are, but come on, why is this STILL an issue?

Cause the other morph of Shadow cloak removes the dot, your just doing it wrong.

I don't think you understand, these are my dots on other targets breaking the cloak.

This is as of last night, using shadowy disguise, dot ticks from both poison injection and the dot ticks from the poison effect of lethal arrow seemed to be breaking it.

It would hold just fine until one of those ticked, trying to cloak right after a lethal arrow lands results in an immediate break. (due to the dot)

I thought it was random until I realized.

A test you made 8 months ago contradicts what people are saying today? Wow, that logic...

That said, your owns DoTs (and opponent's, sometimes) break not only Shadowy Disguise, but Dark Cloak as well.

    Could have changed, sure.

But I did the test because people were making the exact same claims then.

How likely do you think it is that ZOS fixed and then reintroduced the exact same bug??

    On a scale of 1 to 10, probably 11. :#

I've seen new bugs introduced. I've seen bugs go unfixed.

I've yet to see them reintroduce one.

It's actually happened more than once.....

lets see.... there was the endless fury bug that was fixed then broken then fixed again a month later...

Cloak has been broken and fixed more than once with patches

there are others, but I don't remember specifically....

STEALTH being broken by NPCs is completely different than cloak being broken by NPCs. That happens to everyone and is probably intended.

The examples you showed of Cloak breaking (except for the DoTs) were due to damage. That has to be intended. If damage didn't break cloak there would be no reliable counter.

It makes sense that you can't just infinite sneak/cloak by keeps/resources, because that would make them face-roll easy for NBs. It's no different than the fact that certain NPCs are immune to certain CC.

The only thing I saw in that video that I would guess is a bug is the DoTs breaking your cloak when you apply them to someone. Jessica Folsom responded to me in a thread a long time ago saying that wasn't intended.

Cripling Grasp has always done that. I never tested Poison Arrow, but that appears to be doing it as well. I tested just about every other DoT in the game though and those didn't break cloak.

So ZoS really only has those two abilities to fix unless you can show that others are doing it as well now.

If you look at the video, both stealth and cloak are broken by going within 50m of NPCs.

I'm fairly certain it was officially stated, that incoming projectiles are not supposed to break your cloak, and it is not an intended mechanism. I'll see if I can find that post.

They are already "face-roll easy" for all classes, easily soloable. I can provide video of that as well, in case you doubt my honesty. The only thing that detection radius makes sure of, is that stealth focused players get pissed off (and likely wiped by the 50-man zerg hiding behind the NPCs at resource, since you cant stealth afterwards either).

I will test other DoT skills in the next part, and include some scenarios with other players as well.

No my friend. It is the NBs OWN DoTs breaking the cloak.

    Part 2 of my tests:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3lHPj5SXAU&feature=youtu.be

Curiously, Crippling Grasp did not break cloak when cast on players (unlike NPCs).

I need to test some more DoTs next.
