So, is it possible to have a tanky (with shield) yet decent DPS as a nightblade?

So, using a 1h + shield is it possible to still put out decent Damage in PvP? What about PVE? Thanks!

If you are going DW and bow, then you want a stamina build.

Don't worry too much about attribute points now - you can always reset them, and target end game stats are going to change with 1.6, but for now I would suggest mostly health with the occasion point in stamina and using + stamina food and enchantments.

When I first start a character, I worry more about skill leveling - don't be concerned too much about which skills now. Make sure you have 1 of each of the 3 class skills on your bar so these get leveled up. End game stamina DW skill is rapid strikes & whirlwind for Aoe, so get these leveled early

Go to ultimate for group PVE is veil of blades (consuming darkness morph) and soul shred is good for PVP.

And spend the rest of your skill points on persuade, intimidation and passives

Yes, they are quite powerful. Once upon a time, us poor stamina NBs were discriminated against when it came to trials etc, but stamina builds have had some great buffs and can now get excellent dps.

I would mainly concentrate on leveling as many skills as possible for now, with 1.6 coming the best skills may yet change, so once you've maxed a skill get it off your bar &replace it with something else. You can swap in your favourite maxed skills if you happen across a difficult boss fight or are doing dungeons.

I see, thank you so much! Question though, what is the highest your skill can get? When it morphs? Or what?
    Sorry and thank you!

    Single target:
Without trying too hard, you can easily get 700-800, which is the minimum for most group fights; 900 if you have the right set up. With the right gear & skills a good player can get over 1000 dps.

    Multiple targets:
Whirlwind doesn't seem to have a limit to the number of enemies you can hit. Once on a very large group I got over 4000, but on average groups of mobs you'll get 1000-2000

Each skill has 4 levels. Once you max the XP in the 4th level of the skill, the morph becomes available. Then you spend another skill point to morph it. The morphed skill is now level 1 again (with a different name) and can be raised up to level 4 again. You do get slight increases in the skill's ability with each level you go up.

There are many skills that are ok by themselves, but GREAT once morphed, so don't be afraid to morph. Also, your xp for each individual skill is saved, so if you were to respec, you wouldn't lose the 4 levels in that skill. You can re-morph it immediately. And once you remorph it, it will have the same level of xp as before you respec.

If you're asking what the maximum skill level is for a skill line - like Shadow or Dual Wield, it is 50.

Notice that all class skills are magicka based. Stamina builds are alright, if you plan to use weapon skills a lot, but please make sure to train both your weapon skills and your class abilities.

You train skills by having them slotted in your active bar, and you gain xp for that by either killing or completing quests. At level 15 you gain weapon swap, so you can train one set of skills by completing quests (getting your reward) or train them in your main bar that you actively use. - You could of course also slot useable skills in both bars, and change the skills to the ones you haven't fully trained before recieving reward.

Thank you all for the help.

Also, would 1h + shield be good for PvP, as a NB?
