idea for making stam viable (maybe)

anyone ever proposed this?

we should get the option to change how we dodge, block, interrupts, and break free. magicka users can continue as normal, but allow stam users to reallocate their dodge/block/breaks/interrupt to come from the magicka pool.

the reason, as we all know, that magicka is more viable is that it leaves stam for those things listed--things you need less of and still be competitive. stam builds wind up never touching the magicka resource and have to pull everything they do from one resource...which is simply inefficient.

as far as implementation of choosing your resource, it would be like a "shadow roll" or teleport to explain why it uses magicka. similar explanations could be made for the others... magic powered block shields, electric shocks that interrupt instead of bash, calling on benign fairies who throw smelling salts at you for breaking free or waking you up.... and it could easily be changed at a new shrine to someoneorother if you wanted to switch back and forth.... or maybe just allow it in options, idk.

it obviously would not be viable to to change current dodges/etc to magicka for magicka builds because that would only cause the same problems stam builds face for their pools. i feel like that would immediately make a lot of these balancing issues manageable.

Cool idea, but honestly just over complicates things.

There just needs to be better options for dodge/block cost reductions on a percentage based. Or make those actions cost a hard amount instead of percentage of pool. Keep the current system but tweak the numbers; much less complicated and helps close the gap.

Maybe stop just using just your stamina pool and use Sheilds to mitigate damage from your untouched magicka pool. It's balanced if you use your head.

I think there's a slightly simpler and only marginally different option which might be what they're heading towards.

Like the OP suggests, offer both stamina and magicka based versions of dodge and block. Then, as they seem to be doing with lifting the soft caps, give players more freedom to tailor their focus towards magicka or stamina. Move away the current design which practically forces use of both pools.

So in theory a pure spellcaster could dodge (blink?) and block (magic shield) using magicka and ignore the stamina pool completely. Vice versa for fighter types. Hybrids could go either (or both) ways. But they'd all be equally viable.

And I'm assuming there'll be a fighter equivalent to spellcrafting like... learning ancient akaviri combat techniques.

Implement a cost reduction for stamina defenses based on how much max stamina someone has. Done and simple.

There is a rather old RPG system which has (or used to have) a very low health; which can't be raised by leveling either!
The only other stat is stamina (which can be raised when leveling).
Blocking, casting, other stuff, all uses stamina.
If you cast spells when out of stamina it uses your health. ^^

To take this to ESO, draw power for defensive/receiving actions evenly from stamina and magicka pools; once one of these two pools is empty defensive/receiving actions draws from the other pool; only when both pools are empty you cannot perform defensive actions.

Active abilties still require the original pool to supply power.
