Idea's for New Classes

Post your idea's here, this is not a thread to flame classes.

I like the idea of an Animal Handler - The name speaks for it's self. I would say the skill lines could be air, land and water, but water would be a bit pointless currently.

The skills could be a mixture of pet taming and beastly abilities. I always wanted a hunter without the need of a bow.

Any other idea's?

I like the idea of a class focused on pets. They could expand the world skills instead of a class, since the class seems harder to implement, not that I know *** about programming. But a world skill line for pets as you said, more magic schools for mages, such as alteration. A merchant skill, the possibilities are endless and since you have only 6-12 slots to use skills it wouldn't matter if everyone had the same lines.

I agree, I'm all up for no classes and open to all skill lines. But I can't see it changing. Also I think it would cause a lot of problems with balance. I know it shouldn't because everyone could do anything but some people would number crunch which would cause problems. Take bolt for example. If some people start taking the best of everything... I see the call for nerfs being crazy. Even more crazy that is...

I like the idea of skill lines following the traditional TES way as in the magic schools.

Arcane Archer, like a sorcerer and nightblade mixed, class defining abilities: Bound Bow, Magicka Tap, Arcane Trap, skill lines, Marksman, Survivalist, Huntsman.

Marksman, Bound Bow, toggle ability, what you would expect, it's a bow acts as a third weapon swap (takes up 2 spaces combined on your bound bow skill bar and the skill bar you use for your regular weapon) light and heavy attacks with bound bow toggled on deal bonus magicka damage, morph 1 increases your max stamina and stam regen while slotted, morph 2 max magicka increased with bound bow slotted and increased magicka regen.

Magicka Tap, Survivalist, you restore x stamina at the cost of x magicka, morph 1, costs less magicka and restores more stamina, morph 2 costs stamina and restores magicka, OR restores magicka/stamina to nearby allies.

Huntsman, Arcane Trap, you place a trap at the targeted location, enemies that step in the trap are immobilized and take increased magic damage, morph 1, enemies now take damage over time and are snared after the effect ends. Morph 2, arcane trap now immobilizes multiple enemies within it's radius, all enemies deal reduced damage after effect ends.

While bound bow is toggled bow abilities can be used regardless of your currently equipped weapon, marksmen tree is focused on the use of magicka based long range attacks that deal physical(weapon) damage that's increased with stamina and weapon crit.

Survivalist is focused on stamina based attacks that siphon from the enemy and give back to you and your group mates.

Huntsman is focused on long range magicka based attacks, setting traps that snare enemies, reduce their resists, apply dots and generally weakening the enemy.

They need to fix and balance what they have before they even think about adding new ones.

There's always one. Sure they do, but there are other threads for that kind of talk.

I don't expect they will add new skill lines past The Brotherhood and Thieves Guild any time soon anyway. It's just a bit of fun, these boards are so, doom and gloom. You would think it's the end of the world some days.

@ArgonianAssassin, I like the idea of traps as a skill tine, it would be interesting to see.

TBH I like the classes, it makes you decide and makes you more diverse than everyone else, I mean realistically there is a ton of different ways you can successfully build a tank as a sorc, and as a nighblade i dont like the idea of having all skills open because then you will have master specs and people that expect you to play the same way as a ranged dps or a melee dps. I like the class diversity.

Now the 3 classes i think they should add in is some type of monk, hand 2 hand combat is where they would specialise and martial arts is where all of their skills would be based.

The second class i think necromancer should be its own class, tbh there is thousands of things a necromancer can do however i think this game would be good with a pure necromancer build utilizing undead as pets.

Now i havent really put much thought into this class, but i think a mystic type class would also be amazing, one skill tree would be debuffing a mob to all hell, second skill tree would be about preventing damage to group members or shielding and the third line would be their attacks and offensive damage type stuff, that would be awesome i would probably change my class to that in a heartbeat

I want a necromancer and a shaman. Both 'classes' are already in the game as NPC's and I love their spells. Shamans have that green flying bird spell and necromancers often have those corruption/death type spells that we don't really have at the moment.
Worstluck - Breton Nightblade "Some of us refused to bow. We knew the old ways would lead us back to having a kingdom of our own."
    ―Madanach
Elfluck - Dunmer Dragonknight "When I will walk the earth again, the Faithful among you shall receive your reward: to be set above all other mortals forever. As for the rest: the weak shall be winnowed: the timid shall be cast down: the mighty shall tremble at my feet and pray for pardon."
    ―Mehrunes Dagon
Deadluck -Imperial Templar "Men are but flesh and blood. They know their doom, but not the hour"
    ―Uriel Septim

a classless class. so I propose as the new class: destruction of class. freedom of choice, true to the TES games. I fully understand that some people cannot bear having a 'choice' and must be contained within one class or else they would collapse from all the skill lines to pick up, but I'm fairly sure that a healthy number of players would love it. I do not care as much about the balance, in fact I should not care at all, it is developers thing to lose sleep over, not mine. this is what I expect from a game with sub, especially a game that was supposed to be a TES MMO.

^ I suggested a class pre-release called the Wanderer or Traveler that would start with 0 skill lines, but would start with a higher rank in weapon skills and could potentially unlock the skill lines from the other classes. So you could be a character with Siphoning from NB, Earthen Heart from DK and Stormcalling from Sorc.

Even the way it is you have more freedom that any mmo I have ever played. So it's all good. It could get better...

While I would love the idea of a necromancer...I don't they we're going to get new classes, instead we'll get new skill lines.

Also, according to the Q&A and stuff, the spellcrafting that is coming will allow players to discover the original schools of magic (i.e. alteration, mysticism, etc...) as part of the system. There aren't any details yet, of course, but that sounds like it could have some raise dead/bound weapons/etc type stuff, which would be really really awesome.

I think they should have a class option that allows you to choose any 3 main class lines into 1 class. That could really add some diversity, but at the same time I could see some doom in that too. I'm sure somebody already said that above, but I don't want to read cuz I R lazy.

but it is not any other MMO, it is a TES MMO, or at least it has such aspirations. at least I'm not satisfied with the handling of skill lines. class system is an atrocious idea when it comes to TES.

Well before Skyrim TES has always had classes. I don't disagree with you though. Although TES has had classes they also had the option to over-ride that and choose your own. Which is how I think it should be. Some people need classes for what ever reason, I'm not one of them but I don't have a problem with it..

This is a little off topic really. We all have our opinions of the classes, I just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on possible idea's for classes. I should have said skill lines.

I feel that they have held a lot back, probably for expansion. I can't help feeling that I'm playing an incomplete version of this game. As much as I'm enjoying it, I think it will be a much better game in six months.

yes, but as you have said, pre-made classes were there just as an option, not necessity. incomplete it is and will be until classes/skill lines restrictions disappear. may the lorkhan eat them
