Guild functionality updates: guild store interface updates, customizable guild insignias, tabards, and guild ranks, and Guild Kiosks—guild stores open to everyone that are available to the highest-bidding guild.

It sounds like they're not going to make it so the guild stores in keeps are public as they mention in the support pages. Or maybe this is in reference to those? Either way, it sounds intriguing. Just thought I'd share for those who don't bother reading these types of updates.

Yeah, I am somewhat excited about this. It might actually make me join my first guild. I have been dreading a global auction house ever since it was first mentioned back in Beta, but was hoping that they would come up with something new.

lol I think everyone is going to read THAT specific type of update. ;)

I'm very curious what they mean by this. Hopefully they will clarify at the AMA today.

I am curious. I really hope it works.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I'm not really sure what it means when he says the "Highest-bidding guild." Maybe I'm just missing something here? :/

Sounds like the public selling market will be a plum, not a freebie.

They expounded a bit during the AMA on reddit. This is their description for how kiosks will work:
There will be kiosks in all major cities - with a "seller" vendor NPC. Guilds will be able to bid on each kiosk, if they submit the highest bid, that guild's store will be accessible to everyone who interacts with the NPC. Guild control of a kiosk will last for one week, after which it will be back up for bid.

Of course the guild is still limited to 500 members...so it will be great for those 500 guys, of course most of the major trade guilds are made up of strangers, so good luck getting the membership on the same page to donate enough to make that bid.

This doesn't even look like a good idea on paper.

How do guilds bid on it without them having gold? Are they going to add a gold donations slot to the guild bank?

I've been thinking about this. This will make one group of people rich enough to out bid and keep a kiosk forever. If I felt like playing millionaire in this game that's what I would do.

Step one: Raise capital till bidding goes live. Outbid everyone, make gold, reinvest into bidding the next time.
    Step two:???
    Step three: Profit

Having one kiosk does not mean that no one else would be able to get a kiosk themselves, nor does it imply that those without a kiosk are incapable of raising money (although it would be easier with a kiosk, of course). You also can't be certain that the guild controlling the kiosk is also making money from it. Perhaps they raised lots of money beforehand, opened the kiosk, then realized they didn't really have the means to keep it well stocked with things people actually want to buy. There'd also likely be a point of diminishing returns for bidding higher and higher on a kiosk: if you know you can make X amount in a week by controlling one, and the bid is going up to X+5, then you have little reason to continue bidding.

I think there are naturally occurring factors that would keep kiosks from being monopolized but, if all else fails, they could simply limit a guild's ability to consecutively control a kiosk.

Id rather have rented stalls for all accounts.

Screw guild related crap. Im still not selling to players if I need a guild to do it.
