ZoS just said in another thread that farming by logging alts in and out is not an exploit, which I just figured it was, so here Is a tip for those of you that don't know how this works at it's best, most efficient way. Farm your mats effectively.

I just assumed it was an exploit. Since it's not, here's my tip for crafters.

Find a nice spot with multiple node/chest spawns. Post one or two of your alts at the location and then just log in and out between them and keep farming the spots as just like with motifs, you will be resetting (acually it's rephasing but wth) the spawn.

Here is a decent spot in Auridon you can test this out if you don't understand.
Go to the College Wayshrine and head towards the college. At the river, turn left and head up the bank. In just short run (like 30 seconds from the wayshrine) you will come to a Giant bat. Stop there. Put your alts there. P.S. no fighting required.

Now,
From that spot look left and against the bank in a nook should be a chest. Then directly into the water from the bat, you will find a rune and a flower, don't forget the ninroot you just walked over, just before you entered the water.

After looting the little island, go back on shore, just past the bat and loot the iron, then head across the water and loot the flower and on the ledge, another chest. Then head back across the water and loot your maple and then head up the nearby trail to find more ore.

Head back across the top to make your way back to the starting point, looting the Jute along the way.

Now, in about 2 minutes, you have looted

2 chests (random from simple all the way to impossible spawns both)
1 ninroot
1 rune
2 flowers
2 ore
1 wood
1 jute

Now log out and log your next guy in. Most of the time, all spots will be reset. Not every single time, but most. You will have tons of mats and tons of greens (from chests) and lots of achievements from node/chest farming.

So happy to find out this isn't an exploit. I guess I will do it at my favorite spot..since this one i just described PALES in comparisson.

Thank you ZoS

P.S edit. You don't have to keep doing this all day. 20 minutes when you are bored will net you a bunch of mats and most likely around 10-20 chests of greens and blues. Also, you can just leave alts there and do it every once in a while as you are playing normally elsewhere. In a break, just log the alts in to collect loot.

To each their own, I hope you enjoy it immensely, I know of one place you can hit 5 chests in a row with some mats thrown in.

Which may be boring to you, but if you need aspect runes as an enchanter or greens and blues to take apart for all worker crafts... it saves you tons and tons of time and money.

Me too, I pretty much level all my chars equally and each craft on a separate char, with the two left as adventurers/gatherers. I actually like the crafting in ESO, which should be tweaked, but it's pretty fun as is.

If I had an SSD for faster load times I would probably try this out, but man, it takes too long for me to log in/out. I don't have the patience for it :p

    Thanks for the tip though!

Really bad at lag times, don't suggest that... lol

Relogging generally takes me less than a minute to do.

I know crafters, like me, have just run around the map hoping to find nodes and chests. Hours and hours.

Doing this little 2 minute run and log nets you more chests in 20 minutes than all the rest you have seen in game in the starting area.

To be clear, the Grind/Boring thing we are talking about could just be a little thing you do every once in a while for 10 minutes..

Or just a couple of alts you leave there and while waiting to do something else or when you go to the bank or whatever, take a minute to log those guys in, bag the loot on the little 2 minute run, then go back to your main.

Yeah, I love opening chests. One of my favorite things in game. I love to see a blue pop up.. I get a chill when the master lock finishes just at the last tick of the clock..

Pure fun. Doing this lets you loot all the chests you want, whenever you want. No need to hunt around for them.

Don't understand the boring thing. The entire game is boring if you look at it like that.

    Takes two minutes.

They said relogging alts to farm isn't an offense.

You aren't doing anything like a bot here. You just run your course harvesting nodes and chests. Takes a couple minutes. You aren't logging in and out on a specific node or teleporting around.

Nobody would ever see you as a bot, just somebody playing like anyone else.

You shouldn't even need to do the re logging of alt characters. I've found a few locations where I just run a circuit between say 10 different node locations (ore, runes, etc.) and by the time I get back to the start location, some have already re spawned.
As long as it's not a heavily travelled area, this is probably better and less time consuming then having to log out and back in.

My 7 alts gather everything they see as they quest. Often walking your horse to the next part of the quest will get you a stack of mats and some loot. I am pretty good at walking the horse sideways and can actually do a pretty god survey of what can be seen as I travel.

I have farmed particularly rich areas mainly for aspect runes that seemed to keep reoccurring but my constant search at all times grosses so much material I have to juggle slots quite a bit.

its one of those 'letter of the law if not the spirit' things i suppose, but yes I def feel a bit slimy when I do these kind of things even if ZoS condemns them so I will be refraining. however, i applaud those with the zeal/tenacity to take advantage of this aspect of the game :) if its in the game and the devs says its cool, i dont think we can hold it against them

I quit a guild because they were doing this. They had stacks and stacks of crafting crap and greens and blues out the hole to use for decon.

    I assumed it was exploiting.

Now, I just think it's sad cause the people that do this stuff never share the wealth.... info wise.

    So there you go.
