Housing is a fun diversion from the routine, especially if done right, you can have player run events that take place at parties. I remember early in LOTRO's housing people used to have guild meetings at their guild houses (not sure if they still do, since the housing is so removed from the game you'd never know). It would be cool to have that sort of thing, but have it more a part of the game and less something somewhere out there.... in the ether... where nobody can hear you scream... because there is nobody around to see your awesome house!

We could have a housing leaderboard. Where you can have a open house and people can vote on the best decorated houses!

My real vote is "yes", but I don't want to see the player housing devolve into an "I need a house to store my stuff" issue.
The moment you call someone stupid, or try to display your opinion as "fact", you lose all credibility.

Well to each his own on what they want to do with their own house tho. Some might want to horde I suppose lol. They could make a neighborhood zone or a sandbox area. Maybe theyll work on it once the bugs are ironed out.

Player housing has always been a bug part of my enjoyment of TES games, and I would love to see it implemented here.

Would I be curious if they didn't implement it? Or if it wasn't as customizable as Oblivion or Skyrim? No. But it would be nice.

    My biggest question is: where?

It used to be in Marrowind especially, that even if you didn't like one of the 3 or 4 house options you could kill the owner of a house and basically call it yours... I used to do this with the castles. Anyways, when they finally add in the Imperial City, they should add in the player or guild housing... If you like building or house, you should be able to "buy" it. Have various houses available in the city for players and guilds.. Your house is instances so when you go into it, your inside "your" version of that house. When you come back outside, your back into the world again with everyone. So you still have an instanced home, but it's not in an instanced neighborhood out of the way somewhere...

I have tried other online games that have player homes, so it should be possible.
It's essentially based on a single player area/instances (like when you enter a certain quest area), and is then only accessible to you and those you choose to invite. All the player homes are then accessed through the same door in a certain city, where you are automatically transferred to your home (to your own personal instance).
It'll probably be made in the future, but I doubt they will be using their time and resources on it any time soon, as there are many other features more crucial to the game that needs fixing/doing!
But I'll definitely be crossing my fingers for it :#

Additionally, a few cupboards, chests, etc that could store some inventory wouldn't be frowned upon by me... I'm just saying.. :)

It is part of two of the most popular TES games, so yes, sure I want housing. I love how they did it in TES V: Hearthfire.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I would like to see some kind of player housing at some point, maybe even something similar to Hearthfire in Skyrim where it's an investment of time and materials/gold to unlock all the different steps of building the foundation, frame, walls, roof, etc. Even if we don't get individual player houses, I'd at least like to see some kind of guild hall feature where a guild can pool their resources and effort to build up a cool home for themselves.

However, I definitely don't see it as a priority. There are a thousand other things Zenimax should be working on before they even start thinking about adding player housing.

If they do add in housing, my vote is for instanced neighborhoods. I mean, I'd prefer nom instanced neighborhoods but in a megaserver game I just can't see that working.

Neighbourhoods work better than just having a door somewhere that takes you to your own instanced house imo.

    Yes please houses.
With chests and crates and boxes in which to store crap until they fix the inventory system please.

I really liked how the housing was done in Skyrim, I understand this wont be able to be duplicated exactly here, but I like the idea of upgrading the house and customising the look & functionality and such

There are far more important things that this game needs before such things are included, Fixing the bugs and broken quests and skills for example.

I'd also like to see some form of heraldry introduced for guilds. Not necessarily WoW-style tabards but it would be cool to emblazon yourself with guild colors or crests somehow

I would like to see player housing. Also have crafters be able to create storage items for it. Woodworkers and blacksmiths could do chests and weapon racks. Looks of these items could depend on the type of material used. Also it would be nice to
be able to purchase crafting stations that could go outside around the house or a specific place inside.

Would love the addition of both Player housing and Guild housing.

Loved the system that was in-place for LotRO; depending on what house you bought (large/small/guild), you had more trophy/furniture placement slots available.

Hated the system in SWGalaxies - lagged me to no end when I'd enter a house with thousands of player-placed items.

Ultima Online had the best housing system IMO... The ideas behind location/security issues/etc... Far more appealing than most housing zones... Probably wouldn't work with this game design, but great none the less.
