Advice on characters and crafting.

So I've been playing since early access and only have a highest level of 12. I constantly make and remake because I have alt problems but this time I have characters I really enjoy. I decided I would make a crafter since my alts are low enough level it shouldn't be a big deal.

Now, I'm not really sure what to do. I've got a single character who I was going to specialize in crafting alone but I've been looking on the forums and reading comments all over the web. There are two camps. One says to take two professions and make an alt for each other 2 so it is divided amongst several characters. The other camp says they're taking all of the crafts on a single character.

I'm a little bit freaking out about skill points. I've a warrior who could potentially become a blacksmith and gear herself while my crafter can tailor other armor types. But would that gimp out my warrior and make starting another crafting alt the solution?

They gave me a lot of freedom and with it I think a way to screw up my characters. I know I can respec but the prospect of having to pay a gazillion gold isn't appealing but neither are 3 alts leveled solely to craft.

So what do you guys think? Should I keep my 1-in-all crafter, make crafting alts, or would spending a few points here and there to arm my warrior be viable? I suppose such fretting over a game is unnecessary but I'd appreciate the feedback from experienced players who've more know how than I. Thank you.

So far I'm level 18 I've had no trouble putting skills into my blacksmithing without gimping any of my battle skills. So I wouldn't stress that.

I would say the game design allows you to do 2 crafts without much trouble while leveling. Doing a third though did seem to start making me sacrifice some things.

I agree .. doing 2 crafts on a main is no big deal.. it is rough on skill points until you make level ten, but at ten you can go to Cyrodil and pick up a bunch of skyshards to make up for it and past that you are golden.. *in theory* there are enough points at end game that you could do all 6 crafts, and still have a viable adventuring character, but in practice, it is *very* difficult to level up with more than 2.

Thank you. I got so caught up in trying to figure out what to do that I entirely lost sight of actually having fun! It seems easy to do, this game gives you so many choices that trying to figure out exactly what you should be doing is stressful. But in a good way, I enjoy the freedom. :)

I worked on Provisioning and Clothing during my leveling up until level 50. My provisioning is maxed out, but clothing is only at 30. I've now picked up blacksmith and don't have to sacrifice at all.

There are a total of 300 skill points in the game that you can acquire. Don't worry about it.

I tried using alts for crafting but in the end it was easier to just put them on my main, who is gathering the mats and having the leveling to use the mats as well. I am concentrating on one or two but am able to craft all. its jsut easier than playing the bank vault/alt switcheroo every day. I use my alts for hirelings only saving my main from using those points in there.
