Puncturing Strikes.

Is Puncturing Strikes resisted by armor or by spell resistance? I am trying to choose between Pierce Armor and Ransack morphs, because if Puncturing Strikes is resisted by armor, then I won't need the -40% spell resistance from Pierce Armor, and I can go for the armor bonus from Ransack.

Does anyone have some advice on whether to take Pierce Armor or Ransack, considering Puncturing Strikes is the only magicka-based spell I use for damage? I do also plan to play as a tank, and I don't know which morph is most valuable in endgame.

Pierce armor has much better synergy in group play, allowing your magicka based allies to do more damage as well - you shouldn't really need ransack to cap out armor, but if you do its not a bad choice.

Puncturing Strikes is a physical-magic hybrid skill: for damage it uses spell power and max magicka, but it uses weapon crit and is resisted by armour.

Thank you both, much appreciated. :)

I guess that's why those heavy armor enemies go down so easily after a Puncture.

I'll take Pierce Armor, for synergy in group play.

It is a bug that puncturing strikes (Magic damage) is affected by armor? And if it uses spell power it should also scale with spell crit. Otherwise it should scale with weapon power.

Are you sure about that? It's magic damage, it is improved by magicka but not by stamina. Can you give a source please because that sounds like a bug if true.

It makes sense because it's a spear you use physically to stab with. Though I guess then it would make more sense for it to use stamina.

It clearly is a magic spear :P.

    With that said:

Why is it affected by weapon crit not spell crit ...
