Dyes, Dyes, D-d-d-dyes!

Can you see the Daedric Armor pieces(Helm, Gloves, Pants) compared to the Chest Piece? It's soo plain.

I would even support them if they step slightly outside of medieval theme, since the Elder scrolls have had some interesting items in the past. But I agree, no Neons or dayglow colours.

(I also know Medieval is not the right term, but it fits best out of those I know)

Additional inventory bags that are absurd in cost? Miscellaneous, or Usable.

I agree dyes would be great as long as they fit in with the elder scrolls feel. Various muted, earthy tones for armor that fit with what we've already seen in the ES series.
Brighter, flashier colors would work fine for cloth armors. Since traditionally your cloth would have brighter colors like golds and reds and blues.

We already have so many plants we gather with multiple properties. Why not add the use to make dyes out of some of them.

However, if I see pink or purple plate armors I think I might vomit all over pinchy the mudcrab.

It actually is possible to get bright pinks and colors than can only be described as "neon" using Medieval ingredients/methods. Rose Madder for instance, can make shades ranging from bubblegum pink to something resembling traffic cone orange, not just the roses and reds. There's a broader range of Medieval colors than most people think. And that's just dye, annealing metal armor can get a lot more than the "proper" bright blue, I've seen some pink and purple that were just gorgeous. Depends on the heat applied and the timing.

I'd love some oranges and bright blues and teals, myself. Black and brown and green get boring.

lol.. Have you seen my pics? That chest armor is sooo shiny purple, but the Daedric helm and gloves are soo bland.

I may be wrong, but I believe that apparel crafted from the special crafting stations are a different colour. All my Death's Wind gear so far is a blue-green colour, unlike the regular gear, which is beige.

Ignore this, that's just because of the level difference.

Yeah, those pics in the OP aren't too bad. I'm thinking of GW2 or WoW style bright colors. Those would be wrong.

  • night0blade
Although the method that GW uses for their dyes would be a very very nice addition. Basically you buy/craft or loot the dye and you add it into something akin to a library where you have constant and endless access to it. Here maybe restrict to adding the dye during crafting or at the very least maybe altering current armor at a crafting station.

Maybe. I still don't want to see them in the game though. I do not want to play Disco-ball Strawberry Shortcake Online.

Adding bright colors like that would be abused.

I hate the coloring in this game as you level you start looking more and more like a beam of light. Why can't I have options with the coloring. One would expect ebony to be a dark black metal but guess what it's freaking gold.

Sadly gaudy pink colored gear already exists in the game. For example the level 8-14 range Argonian Medium Gear:

(Note: The lighting in this screenshot makes the colors appear duller than they really are.)

Needless I was not happy to see the tribal themed motif I setup for my Argonian barbarian go bubblegum :'( So yeah, I support dyes too. Then at least only the trolls will be stuck in pink.

2h weapons impossibly large to wield? Sure! Tight, creaky leather that inexplicably improves your stealthiness? Absolutely! Absurd, liability prone plate designs? So long as they're concealing and no molded chest then A-ok! Skimpy armor? THAT'S UNREALISTIC! <_<

erm...there are no "dyes" in any of the TES games why would they add it to this one? i agree it would be nice but i rather have them fix bugs first before adding new content.

Well naturally, however the portion of the team that handles changes to the gear system would not be the ones handling bug fixing anyways. They couldn't be assigned to bug fixing even if Zenimax wanted them to, not their area of expertise.

    This.

Would like some dye features but keep it small and in line with the overall colors in the game. I wouldn’t want to see a bright pink templar bunnyhoping around when I'm playing the game.

But some sort of dyes would be great to differentiate from the other players wearing the same armor.

Well we already have pink armor. Have you seen the low lvl Imperial Medium style color?

But Yes, I want lots of dyes. And make them a craft item not a cash shop item.

Using the Racial Motifs is already a form of customizing the appearance of your armor. I don't think dyes are necessary. Look at past Elder Scrolls games: there was not a dye feature. And there already are armors that are colorful, greens and pinks, etc. The only downside that I see is, maybe you like the color or appearance of something that's crafted with low level materials, but you're higher level and you need to be wearing something stronger. I wouldn't mind seeing something like WoW's transmogrify added into the crafting system. Or perhaps something like this: You can craft an entire appearance for your gear into one item that you can equip in your disguise slot, so that your armor will look the same regardless of what you actually are wearing. There's possibilities, but I just don't want to see it get out of hand if we do get more customization options.

I'm sorry but comparing a MMO to any single player game isn't just. If you want this game to be Oblivion, Morrowind, Skyrim well then you best go and play them. This is a MMO, it will have features not seen in any SP title, it will cater to a wider and more diverse crowd than it's SP predecessor. You should try to keep this in mind when someone says "Well it wasn't in any of the other games.."

Skyrim had/has 48 unique sets of armor in the game, should we have stopped at this number for this game? Just because that's what Skyrim did? Of course not, that's absurd lol.

Every new title SP or MMO alike will try to do more/better than the previous one. Dyes may not have been in Skyrim, but they can have a home here.

Actually most of us are comparing it with other MMOs, which have more allowance for individual styles.
