Too much gold?

Usually in an MMO you have to struggle to make ends meet. Pieces of vital equipment seem to be always out of reach, necessitating a long gathering grind to obtain sufficient materials/gold to gear up.

In this game, drops seem plentiful and gear isn't a problem. I don't need to craft anything or gather nodes. I'm even able to level up crafting without gathering, just by deconstructing the plentiful gear I don't need.

Apart from horses, there doesn't seem to be anything to spend gold on. Repairs take a little but you hardly notice it really.

TL:DR I seem to have an awful lot of gold. (no you can't have it :) )
Does it need to be nerfed?

No. Have you seen respec costs?

I suppose I could go spend some respeccing - but it doesn't sound like a fun thing to do.
That's another thing - I've got more skill points than I can spend too. At least for things that look useful.

I agree with this actually. I could buy a second horse, but don't see the need. I also have no need to respec; I'm already learning and leveling skills I don't necessarily want. Until I see some more pictures, I'm holding back on buying the rare motifs, but pretty soon those will be trivial anyway (prices are coming way down as it is).

Give us something sweet to spend gold on!

I agree with the OP, it does need to be nerfed. There don't seem to be enough money sinks in the game...
Repair costs are minimal at high levels and the horses are the only real sink (3x42k).

I already don't know what to do with my money, other than buying a 3rd horse which feels kind of redundant and I haven't sold anything at all up until now.

And please those who are like "I JUST HIT LEVEL 10 AND THE REPAIR COSTS ARE SO HUUUGE", please take a hike and wait until you get to 50 to give feedback.

Well, if gold gains would be nerfed i simply couldnt afford to repair my armor anymore. I pay 1500-2000 every 3 hours or so, and thats about as much as i make in quests as VR1

Well my friend, I would like to help you out with your problem. Why don't you just send me all that unneeded gold and I am sure you will feel worlds better. :#

Yes I would also like to offer my services as a money sink to anyone that has a problems with large numbers next to their coin thingie. I am VR1 did all but 8 quests in my initial faction and now I am finishing up the starting areas in the second faction. I respeced just once at lvl 20 and have only the brown horse .I also have quite a bit of inventory and bank upgrades to buy yet. I rarely die and for the first 50 levels I almost always changed gear instead of repairing it. With the amazing nerf worthy 2gold per mod in VR zones I am now standing at around ~5.0x 10^3gold. Yes I know so much gold I have to use scientific notation but since I have a very strong constitution I can take it and I can also take what you have.. :p
You guys clearly need to l2p.

I actually think the opposite is true.
I don't have enough money to do what I want.
Both my bag and bank are at 11,500 each to upgrade.
    I'm level 39 and have about 24k.
I feel ripped off if I am asked to spend 1000k on repairs so I just swap equipment.
I assume you guys aren't crafters then.
If I was and I had these untold amounts of wealth I would be buying things to deconstruct and taking the goodies to make better gear.
I'd be buying or asking for a lot of stuff in world to get for my crafts.
Geez, I wish I had more money.

lol! I've reported more gold spammers than you've had hot dinners.

Why would anyone BUY gold in this game? There's nothing to spend it on.
    Well, nothing sensible anyway.

I think I agree with you ESO admire to grind bosses instead of giving crafters a chance to trade, I think bosses need to be nerfed to only have mats and soul-jems, and remove gold from all npcs, also make global trade market instead of gild trade store.
You will limit bots and give crafters a purpose.

Also limit Gear drop from npcs, and give quest givers option to choose gear for a character, lower cost to repair gear, as well.

No. Unless they plan on making horses and repairs and vendor items free.

And people will bot for mats and soul gems. Oh and people that dont like farming mats cant pay for crafted gear.

    Bad idea all around.

I keep spending money on random crap (bank slots I don't need, etc) and somehow, magically, it always comes back quite fast.
I expect that to stop once my VR leveling is actually done though, and I'm not questing anymore. I also expect it to take a turn for the worse once I start upgrading my gear at VR10 towards legendary.

    Guess we'll see.

I would like to know that too! o.o
Do you have 2 horses so that you can feed them at the same time? And I am still wondering if we can maximize speed, stamina and carrying capacity or if we need to choose one or two of them...can we just feed them 50 times?

I agree. Don't nerf the gold. Give us more options to spend the gold!

All mats and soul gems should be 0g as a sell price at vendor, only crafted items should have sell price and it should be higher then it is now.
If you have global trade market you could sell your mats so you could buy gear and repair/upgrade gear and things.
Gold should be reworded from quests and selling crafted items, and selling mats on global trade market.
In my opinion, soul gems should be craft-able at enchanting station not rewarded from loot.
Gold should be removed from all kind of loot.
This way you won't see as many gold farmers or gold farmers would be even eliminated entirely.
Sure people will farm mats, but now they need inventory and time to sell mats

As long as a game 1) has currency, even barter currency - see Stone of Jordan - and 2) a need or use for it there will always be bots.

In fact, if there is no gold drops, there will be even *more* gold selling.

Contrary to popular belief, most gold sold doesnt come from drops. It comes from mat sales and hacked accounts. We already have underground harvest bots. What in Lord Innoruuk's name makes you think itll be any better?

And if anything, itll reduce crafter market because when the only way to generate gold is through crafting...... you get craft bots.

Each feeding is a level and they can only go to level 50. You also have one active at a time. You can feed them both by switching which is active.

I don't. I do not sell what I can deconstruct and all my gold goes into buying extra inventory for bank and backpacks.

Ps: Oh, and I refuse to "farm" bosses to make thousands of gold easy.

just seems like a lot because there isn't silver and copper so all quest rewards have to give you the top currency. There is a reason there is "change" in most MMOs but I guess they couldn't really do that here because that has never been a thing in ES

Could not agree more. This is exactly the right path.

Also, bank and bag upgrades cost plenty, as do mounts (if you plan to collect all of them anyway). If you use a guild store on a regular basis, that can suck your wallet dry pretty quickly, especially if you buy mats for crafting.

They don't need to nerf gold. It's fine as it is. Just add more cool stuff to buy. Gold will go pretty quickly then.

I hate to do this, but look at the way other MMORPGs have handled this sort of thing. They add more mounts, or pets, or costumes, or dyes, or housing, or trinkets, or something to go to a vendor and buy for what can sometimes be stupid amounts of money. There goes all you gold. Problem solved.

Besides, as others have said, if there really was too much gold hanging around and nothing of note to spend it on, why would the gold sellers be such a problem? There's always a use for gold in any game. Sometimes you have to go out of your way to find it, sometimes, in a young game like this one, you have to wait for the devs to add some in, sometimes they are right in front of you and you don't see them, and sometimes you have to delve into content you otherwise might not (like guilding or pvp), in order to find something wortthy of the expenditure.

Nerfing gold would suck. Adding stuff is much better.

Mat sales at vendor 0 gold
Materials take space in inventory, so bots
will have to run to trade market or to crafting stations, but wait, you need more then materials to craft items, so bot crafting will be a bad idea, then bots need to sell mats on the market which will take time and a price will be much lower to buy mats for real crafters, so "craft bots" are no go.

    Bots already sell on market.

Craft bots to push R repeatedly with mats in bags can already exist, I can set up AHK to do it easy(but wont, because cheating).

Not all mats sell for 0, Ingots sell for alot at the NPC vendor. All crafting materials need to sell for 0 and be non-tradable.
