Grinding is such a chore to me, I quest. If I wanted to, I am sure I could grind, but why would I?

in my experience grinding is literally 6x slower than questing. Idk what data you're looking at but in my world its no where close to as fast as questing

Then you were doing it wrong.

Some grind spots give over 100k XP per hour. Good luck getting that from quests.

There are a couple of spots in Coldharbour that give over 120k xp per hour if you have a decent aoe group and don't mind aiding the zombie apocalypse.

I also noticed, from about level 35 onwards, that the vast majority of my XP comes from the combat involved in the quest not the actual quest XP reward.

Just don't complain about the game being boring if you zoom to max level grinding. I prefer to take my time and smell the roses (or undead).

Why would you not quest? What's the point of owning a game if you don't want to complete it all and just want end game content? Sounds like WoW to me.

Yes but you are missing out on TONS of Skill Points and cool items that you can only get through quests.I do a bit of both, I do quests, and make sure I kill everything in that area before I turn them in, and everything I come across in between quests.

What is the point of playing an MMO if all you want to do is rush to level cap and skip 95% of the content?

One of the things that are killing MMOs like WoW is how you can skip majority of the content to level cap. Yes, WoW is bleeding subs, and the only thing really keeping it alive are the people that want to PvP, they lost majority of their hard core gamers. Even with it's new expansion coming out which is targeted mainly towards PvP, I am not even playing with the thought of renewing my subscription. WoW is dead to me.

I quest a lot, it's good fun, slows me down and I find more goodies. I wonder what the actual ratio is for people who Quest vs People who Grind? I think questers are just quiet and don't prattle on as much.

Questers come out with more gold, skill points and they won't have to go back to those zones after hitting level cap.

There's pros/cons to both. Nothing wrong with having multiple ways to play a game

Not to mention actually doing quests will give you the achievements as well If you care about that sort of thing. I really love Elder Scrolls lore so the questing is a lot of fun to me. The exp may be faster with grinding, but just not worth it to me. Alas, an mmo attracts all types of gamers though.

Grinding os really only good for loot. If you find the right area/right mobs you can make a decent amount of gold or get decent gear quite quickly. Can always find a group of players surrounding a pile of dead npc's doing just that.

I dont read quests completely or heroicly role play. I love stories and lore but in an mmo, its a progression race against an imaginary opponent.

Its a choice of game style. There are guys that must get to max level first and guys that want to savor the trip along the way. In WOW it was common for guys to get max level on an expansion (10 levels) in 10-12 hours doing nothing but grinding/mass murder of any thing in sight.

Fast leveling is not bad as long as there is something to do once you max out. Unfortunately, most of the games that have come out recently have been extremely lacking in end game content. Lets hope ESO isn't one of those games.

Okay, but why? If the opponent is imaginary, why race? What does winning an optional race against an imaginary opponent get you as a reward?

I've seen this a lot in mmo's especially in the past few years, and it makes me sad. I've been playing mmo's since 2002 (Dark age of Camelot) and can honestly say there wasn't this mad rush/competition back then.

As I see it, Elder Scrolls Online is a beautiful game with fantastic storylines/quests and exploration. I could not even imagine spending my online time stood in one spot grinding the same mobs over and over over *yawn* when I could be off having adventures in a Tamriel!! I'd be bored stiff in 2 mins...:p

I listen to the npcs talk to non quest npcs and they mark my maps sometimes with places to visit. I also read all the books I find that I haven't read.

Level 22 at the moment I don't need to get on a treadmill to get to max level because I am enjoying the game as I would enjoy playing Skyrim or Oblivion.

I kinda gave up on questing after finding i could not quest with my friends. phasing is bad, so now i just grind and find higher level mobs to fight. Questing in the open world is still like "Black-Friday Christmas Shopping at wa-mart.

I enjoy questing a lot. I like to take my time and explore the world. I am only level 15 and I could not care less if every other player in the world makes it to max level before I do.

That said, sometimes I enjoy simply wandering around and killing mobs. I also enjoy wandering around gathering crafting mats.

Lots of ways to play the game...why not do all of them or as many as possible?

I'm greedy! I want it all, quests, exploring, dungeons, killing enemies and creatures, crafting, achievements... I also like helping other players.

Too me if all you want to do is grind your paying a lot of money for a 1/4 of the true experience of the game. That is truly boring.
