Screen blinks when clicking

Just as the title reads, every time I click the screen blinks. If I click repeatedly I can actually see my bottom toolbar from the desktop. About every 20 mins of gameplay I end up clicking a bunch of times in a row while in battle and then the game completely closes out on its own. Gone, right back to the desktop as if the game was never opened.

-All my drivers are up-to-date
-I've tried lowering the graphics and resolution
-I've tried playing in 'windowed' mode

Any more ideas as to what could be causing this?
