Why are enchanting glyphs not considered consumables.

When you pull the writs from the consumables board? :D

Because it has been this way since day one of this endeavor, regardless of the board the daily quest comes from. ;)
I'm sure we could try to find a logical explanation like "glyphs aren't really consumed, they just become part of the piece of gear they enchant", but basically it's just because that's the developers' definition.

Naw, they always have to throw something in to troll us. lol
Like reducing the number of nodes when that is an endeavor.

I would see them as a durable rather than a consumable. You recharge the Glyph on weapons with Soul Gems, for instance.

Then they should be on the equipment board.
    No biggie just annoying.

But you can’t logically define glyphs as consumables and durables simultaneously, as those are mutually exclusive. That’s the issue.

Now there may be a reason for categorizing them in this logically inconsistent way, as it helps keep the boards split 3-3 (3-4 with Summerset) rather than 2-4 (or 2-5), but that doesn’t eliminate the inconsistency.

This is where I miss a friendly dev just casually chiming in and saying we did it this way because.
Those days are long gone I am afraid.

Eating and drink are particular forms of consumption, but consumption is not limited to that.

An activity can be time consuming. Conspicuous consumption is mostly practiced without food or drink. We are consumers when we purchase a product or service, even if we don't eat them.

Glyphs are one-time use items, so it may be argued they are consumable, as they are used up after that one use. But their effect remains indefinitely until overwritten, in which sense they are not like other consumables (potions, poisons, food). They are more like mundus boons.

But either way, if you believe that glyphs should not be considered consumables, then you don't agree with them being on the consumables board?

I assume it's because the game has glyphs categorized as miscellaneous.

If you have a chance get parts of the glyph back when you deconstruct an item, its durable. If you don't, it should be a consumable.

Before they revised XP rewards across the board consumable MWs (this was alchemy, provisioning and enchanting) had x1.5 quest XP bonus and durable master writs (blacksmithing, clothing, woodworking and jewellery) had x2.25 quest XP bonus.

Also as already mentioned in the thread enchanting daily writs are in the consumables board.

So basically enchanting was always considered 'consumable' until they decided that for the purpose of endeavours it was in fact 'durable'.

If I had to venture a guess I'd say they did this to give a broader chance for people to complete the daily endeavour because - master of the obvious moment - enchanting does no require learned traits/motifs etc.

In spite of the obvious confusion that that would cause.
