[SUGGESTION] Optimal Queue System for upcoming Battlegrounds

4v4 should have a single queue because there isn't enough premade groups to support two separate queues. The Group Queue would have wait times of 1-2+ hours or never pop at all.

However, in a perfect world there would be two separate queues because Solo PvP is fundamentally different than GvG.

That as well, trying to queue with my friends into group BG's (regardless of group size) is basically a mission impossible (and we're by no means a good group, we just wanna pvp together). Our average queue time on pceu is about 35 minutes. Longest we had to wait was 55 minutes. And I agree, in a perfect world with more population you can have separate queues, but I personally rather have quick games that are a bit more unbalanced than wasting most of my evening in a queue.

If you wont have enough groups to sustain a 4 man premade queue that should tell you that not most organized groups don't actually want that mode.

So you'd just be ruining the competitive queue for all the solo players so that 3 or 4 premades can have their fun.

I personally don't see anything "competitive" about a solo queue to be honest. There are a few streamers I watch who play BG's regularly and from what I can see majority of players just avoid other "solo-players" who they're somewhat friends with, simply because they're afraid of causing drama with one another. Instead of fighting other good solo players in these BG's they avoid eachother and go for the easy kills.

From what I can read from some "solo players" they just want to keep doing just what I described above (not saying you do Jierdanit, just the feeling I get when I read some of the feedback on the forums), and not actually wanting a competitive solo queue. Because of they did you'd see these players tryhard eachother (even though they're friends) in the solo queues.

I don't see anything competitive about premades just stomping solo players in most BGs.

Players avoiding each other is absolutely true, but its mostly a thing in the Objective modes.
And it's not as much about not causing drama as it is about not ruining the other person's experience.
If my team is attacking someone I'm friends with I see no reason to jump in and make the fight unplayable for them.

In Deathmatch where it is actually the objective to kill as much as possible you will rarely see that.
So I'm fairly sure that stuff like that would not happen a lot in an actually competitive BG.

I think it all sounds great. If there's not a new system to calculate Leaderboard rank then a few medals need adjusted, and Pets need to finally score damage and healing.

That’s what we have now, and we can clearly see from queue times that it’s not working. Groups can sit in queue for hours.

While I know it’s painful to go up against premades, if the MMR works well (and solo people go in around mid month) then the good premades will quickly be out of the way. But forcing premades to sit in interminable queues for a game mode with an unhealthy population as is… not ideal.

The changes to MMR to reset it periodically and decay it quicker do look good though. That means you won’t essentially be penalized from ending up in a good group.

A battleground match requires 12 players in a compatible combination within an acceptable MMR range under the current setup.

If you cannot form a match for hours, it would suggest that either the matchmaker is bugging out or next to nobody is interested in grouping/playing against groups.

If the matchmaker is not bugging out and it is actually taking hours, the number of people that want grouping is simply too small to justify catering to them at the expense of other players.

And I remember when they changed that. The OG BGs were getting a bit tougher to get into, so people started to whine about not wanting to play against premades, or because they didn't want every game to be DM in-name-only. So ZOS removed that. Result: the BG population was decimated and never recovered.

I'll use the same argument that every forumite loves to use against people complaining about random dungeons: "This is an MMO, just join a guild and you'll magically have millions of friends who want to do it!"

Obviously that's not true, but still - if you have an MMO where you're specifically not allowed to play with your friends, then the obvious answer isn't "Oh, I'll play by myself then!", it's actually "screw this game!" And we've seen that, where everyone who would want to play with their friends just stopped playing BGs since they can still PvP with friends in Cyrodiil. Or they stopped PvPing.

While I'm concerned about pre-made pvp groups coming into a BG and destroying the other team over and over, I might be more worried about the unkillable tank/healer troll groups that will undoubtedly be common, as well.

4v4 Competitive. With leaderboard. Premades allowed.
8v8 Casual. No leaderboard. Premades still allowed somehow.

The biggest issue with this bad designed content will remain: the only players will be the ones that already play BGs, which are very few to say the least and players queuing for the daily xp. No matter the shinny rewards or new maps.

It is funny that some ppl write that the solution is to find a group, as if many players would play BGs. You can easily find PvE guilds or Greyhost PvP guilds but no one plays BGs. How in the world you can find a group when those players do not exist?

Maybe, I am just wrong and it will be a sucess. We will wait and see.

I think you'll see a lot of people trying it out for the novelty. Remember everyone hated IA too except when it came out everyone was in there and enjoying it. The novelty wore off after a bit so they injected new content or rewards into it and people started playing it again and now it's got a pretty robust activity cycle.

Mixed queues is only going to be an issue at high MMR. Casuals get decimated by a single player who knows what they're doing whether they're matched with groups or solos - I mean I've literally gone in on a new toon and just racked up tens of kills without dying in a single BG before because the char had no MMR.

8v8s will likely have a much wider pool. Even if there's an organized 4 man out there causing a mess, that's only one match. The likelihood of finding yourself up against the same premade 2x in a row when there's no MMR and every single round is rng opponents is pretty low except very late at night or very early in the morning.
