    Hello!

If you post too many repeating letters, that can sometimes trip the Twitch automod due to "spam". We try to remove these timeouts when we see them, but sometimes chat moves pretty fast.

Who can I speak to about the wrongful ban in the Twitch chat? I simply said "ZOS don't go that route" after the woman announced the nonbinary companion. I have the right to voice my disapproval of developers pushing their political beliefs on me as a paying customer. I was not name-calling or saying anything inappropriate.

That could have been the twitch auto mod too.

I have been timed out by it - not on this stream but a friend's - for typing ESO.

You mean "disapproval". I did not violate any of the terms of service... both on Twitch and here. No name-calling and no bashing. Banning someone for expressing their freedom of speech is wrong. If the moderators can't deal with it then they should not be moderators. In the past moderators have even suspended and banned people for using the term "PvP" on the Twitch channel.. and I kid you not. Go check it out for yourself.

Yes, I did indeed mean to type "dissaproval", but made a mistake, and since I did not accurately check each and every word I've been typing a little mistake did happen. Thank you for pointing that out to me, it was indeed very important to take note of that.

I was not talking about anything associated to ToS or some other regulations. I was merely saying that even though you do have the right, or freedom, to voice your opinions, you do not have the right, or freedom, to just have your opinion not be contested.
And if ZOS sees fit to not have that kind of input in that kind of scenario, then maybe that is upsetting to you and makes you feel like you're not being heard, but it's not a restriction on you opinion or your ability to voice that, just a reaction on that opinion.

If I am walking into a restaurant I've eaten at before, and see that the new dessert menu is not to my liking, I absolutely have the freedom to start proclaiming exacty that.
If I'm then being escorted out of the restaurant or the premises, it's still not an attack on my freedom of speech, it's just the consequence of people not caring to hear it right now :)

This case doesn't seem to be a question of whether something exists. Everyone can see that people who call themselves nonbinary exist. There's also no doubt their feelings exist.

The debate is about how serious to take the feelings of other individuals and whether these feelings, if contrary to the physical, should be more important than the physical. There, people have different stances - that is causing the whole argument.

What to do about with that situation? I don't know, really.

Just to add: I'm not anti trans. But I see what is causing the debate.

Factually, a person is not politics. A person can engage in politics. But they are not politics.

Everyone would understand the absurdity of saying "I don't believe Americans exist. Why include an American character? Americans are political."

American people have political beliefs. But Americans aren't politics. It is a fact that people who identify as non - binary exist. When they aren't people who's feelings we should consider, but rather concepts like "politics" it makes it easier to justify exclusion.

I think they should be taken seriously because there's no reason not to? I mean, judging someone purely on their physical appearance/attributes is taken to be fundamentally an immature and less-developed way of conducting personal interactions...

... so it's not like there's ever a question about which has primacy. This seems like a cop out to me. Of course feelings are more important than the physical. Even the act of *driving* is often taught to begin with "make sure your feelings are stable and don't drive while extremely emotional" (even if people ignore that). People's cognition and people's feelings almost invariably trump their physical attributes, and it ought to be that way.

If it's really a debate between "do I believe someone feels a certain way, even when they show no physical attributes of being that way" and "people are only the way their observable external physical attributes are and feelings don't matter" then... I don't even know what to say.

"I feel pain in my left side."
"no you don't, I can't see it by looking at you."

... rly? Talk about denying reality...

This is a philosophical debate about epistemology and ontology, more than anything - not a political one.

Whether or not something exists is not a matter of fact, but rather of opinion? Alright then. Playing by your rules, then, I choose to believe this truth is an opinion, and not a fact, and ignore it in favor of knowing you're wrong.

As I said, I don't think anyone denies that there are people who feel they are between the sexes, both or neither (or another variant that is not "completely male" or "completely female"). But it's also a fact that a person has a physical sex.

I, personally, tend to prioritize the mind over the body, because the mind is the seat of an individual's personality. Also, I know that intersex conditions exist and it's very much possibly that these conditions also extend to neurology - brain structures, which would be a very physical thing in the end. Also, I'm a polite person, so won't intentionally hurt someone by belittling them over their feelings.

But the opinions about this differ, and there are also other factors that play a role. That's the current situation, and the big question is what to make of it.
This is a philosophical debate about epistemology and ontology, more than anything - not a political one.

It's philosophical in its core, but as soon as it affects reality, societal rules and legislation, it also becomes a political one (not in a video game though - in my opinion, that's an exaggeration to call the creation of an npc political).

"But the opinions about this differ, and there are also other factors that play a role. That's the current situation, and the big question is what to make of it."
What you make of it is you explore why the opinions differ - what informs the opinions?

You (and I, and for most things, society) place cognition a pedestal that is at least equal to, if not greater than, physicality. Because for so many activities, cognitive and emotional states are either equally or more important to success.

Why is the physical being prioritized in this case; saying 'it's my opinion, man' is unsatisfactory because it's meaningless... "this person should be worse off because of my opinions" is inherently unpersuasive, and so can rightfully be ignored when factual information (obviously more persuasive) is available. And yet people are surprised and upset when they are ignored? Perhaps it's more than an opinion to them - perhaps they believe it to be fact.

Which wraps right around to "why" - the fundamental epistemological question. Opinion has less than zero weight in an epistemological clash.
