I expected it to be underwhelming and still I'm left disappointed. The companions cost extra? I have plus but that's not the point.

    Amused.

Either because I liked the new companions they presented and look forward to them (I don't care for PvP in ESO).
Or because my negative predictions were right. Also: after-stream forum battle party.

    :)

It's sad, but at the same time I'm laughing like Azura on the day she cursed the Dunmer right now.

Actually PvP part wasn't as bad as I expected, but that's a given when peeps like Brian or Mike chime in. Went asleep mode after so the stream was done after, will give new BG's a chance as always but they need more, way more work to remake PvP community from scratch and have people for all the modes who'd actually care for those, long term frequent support included.

IF ZoS doesn't have an all hands on deck and put Cyro updates in the backlog ASAP then they have really lost touch with their player base.

Based on the forums, social media, and Twitch during the "PvP Update" the community couldn't have made it more clear - we want cyro changes and we wanted them 7 years ago (last time cyro go touched).

The ONLY thing I can think of is 1) they already have a massive update planned (they could have teased it to manage the negative feedback) or 2) (and I think this is the more likley one) is that MGMT way up top has made an intentional decision to not put anymore RSS into Cyro. I've seen it happen over and over with companies where leadership pulls the plug because they feel as though something has become a money pit.

This way of thinking has always backfired.
Will the real LadyGP please stand up.

I enjoy all aspects of ESO, PVE, PVP, housing, etc. I've been playing on and off for 8 years now, so Ive seen ESO go through low points. I'm dissapointed with somethings mentioned today, and I hope they take the feedback and put it to good use. I don't want to see my favorite game get negatively impacted.

i knew it was gonna be new bg maps, but still the idea was incredibly disappointing. It was disappointing to find out that it was a possibility, and it was disappointing to have it confirmed. This isnt what pvpers want, and sadly this will probably be the final straw for a lot of people. Zenimax is just so incredibly out of touch, its almost like they give us stuff we dont want on purpose.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but honestly, I think this would be great, it would give people who aren't sure exactly what is involved a way to spectate the BGs and see what goes on in them.

Khajiit is delighted to have another khajiit pal to run around with.

But changing battlegrounds from 3-team to 2-team really sucks - is not update but down-date. And that seems to be the extent of the PVP "content" that this one was able to discern.

    So boo hiss.

Don't get me wrong I love Cyro and understand it is only there one can satisfy their kaiserliche aspirations in Tamriel.

But it's ridiculous how people say they don't consider BGs PvP, what about it isn't PvP? The lack of doors? Large expanses of grass? 30v1s? ROA DC VD gameplay? A leaderboard which rewards PvDooring or VD Delivery more than pitched and sustained combat?

Really good quality of life improvements and base game additions.

A pretty solid amount of content for Battlegrounds, basically doubling the map pool and gamemodes. (sucks that we had to wait so long, but oh well)

I'm a tad disappointed that the companions are not base game or included with Gold Road. But I love the concept and design of them.

As a PvPer ofc I'm a tad sad there is no Cyro update (even though I knew there wouldn't be one) but BGs update seems interesting.

Companions look fun, especially the lockpick passive! Though not sure how I feel about putting them in the crown store.

Since my previous post was locked, I would like to elaborate on what you said here. My concern is not whether Battlegrounds (BGs) are classified as PvP or not; rather, it pertains to the focus on developing PvP systems that are not central to the core PvP experience. As this is an MMO, where the term "massive" emphasizes the expansive nature of the game—the primary focus should be on enhancing Cryo the core element of PvP in this game, the Massive in MMO.

It is crucial that core PvP aspects of the game are addressed and refined before attention is given to other systems that were not inherently flawed. While it is true that our player base is relatively small, this does not diminish the importance of catering to the active PvP community, catering to a even smaller portion of the player base (those that do BG's) without fixing matters to core pvp systems puts a bad taste in most our mouths.

I voted and actually then found a few little nuggets that pleased me....

Ok so Companions being in the Crown Store is a bit naughty imo BUT I have ESO+ so I'm covered, also "Glowy Heavy Sacks" as a perk.....YAY!!

Second and most important thing for me was......

They are increasing the drop rate of Heartwood, Mundane Rune and Decorative Wax!!!

i think the thing pvpers dont like about current BGs is the map layouts + the game modes

most only want deathmatch and feel that many of the other modes (relic, domination, crazy king) dont really promote pvp and actual fighting, but running between/to objectives, and chaosball being mostly devolved into "who can cheese the ball in to the hardest to get to location"

some of these might be resolved with new maps, along with limiting chaosball and capture the relic to 8v8 mode only (all other modes (deathmatch, domination, and crazy king) will be available in both 4v4 and 8v8)

It was not exactly what I expected. I mean yes Battlegrounds. But the fact that apparently they'd been working on this for one and a half to two years........ I mean sure the update looked substantial, but Battlegrounds seem like a rather niche thing to set aside so much dev time for when there's so much more demand for open world PvP. Have they finally thrown in the towel on that? And what makes this "short term PvP"? Does that refer to development time? If so, what's does 'long term PvP' look like? A decade?

@Xanttious So you recant your prior statement that this update "gave nothing to PvPers"?

Or just, not to "true" PvPers. That's what I mean. What makes BGs False PvP when both modes reward Non PvP, i.e. scurrying off with the ball in BGs and PvDooring in Cyro. What makes BGs False PvP where if I want an evenly matched pitched battle i can have one in 5 minutes in BGs versus who knows how long in Cyro?

Open world in what sense? PvP in existing zones outside of Cyrodiil? That would be a disaster in many ways the most important maybe being a waste of funds and time creating it.

Most of the stream was great until they brought in the companions thing. First off, making them only purchasable via the Crown Store is pretty low. Second, why did we have to bring current-day stuff in with the one of them? If there's one advantage to them being Crown Store exclusive, at least that means I never have to use them ever.

I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come for ESO. I recently quit RuneScape after two decades of playing and enjoying the game because they went a step too far with the current day nonsense. Last thing I want is for my new home MMO to go that same route.
