Which Class do you think the 8th Companion will be?

Necromancer (presuming 2 Necromancer Companions in 2024)
I feel like one companion would at least be Necromancer considering they like to give them character classes and they've already been through all the others.

Personally me and a few friends would like to see something new though that's not class related. Even one with only vampire or werewolf skills would be interesting

I agree, Q4 can't come soon enough! I really want to know what ZOS plans to do with the 8th Companion's Class to clear up the misconceptions players have about what an 8th Companion means for the system.

I created this poll because many people seemed to think ZOS would never reuse Classes, and I wanted to see just how many people would vote for something different. I also figured putting "8th Companion" and "Class" in the title would immediately call this into question — a lot of people don't want more than one Companion per Class, so the idea of there being a possibility of a repeated Class is enough to drive up thread engagement.

This is the perfect time for a speculation poll. Until we get past Q3 and get a sneak preview of the Companions in Q4, we won't know for sure what ZOS intends to do with the system moving forward!

    A "mimic" of your characters.

Taking the appearance settings and class from any character on your account, but using the companion equivalent class.

The companion could be an 'ilusion imp" like the pets we use, and it is in imp form when in conversation, and you can ask it to take the form of any of your characters, so you can travel and fight alongside one of your other toons.

The 7th Companion releases alongside the 8th Companion in Q4 this year. The original post presumes that the Class of that 7th Companion will be Necromancer, given that it's the most obvious choice to give to one of the two Companions. With the 7th Companion, we will have one Companion for each Class that players can pick from, but we have no idea what to expect of the other Companion.

That is the purpose of this thread -- to speculate as to what precedent ZOS may set with this Companion for which the choice of Class is not obvious.

Are you asking for 2 Necromancer Companions in the same update? Given how many necromancers were in West Weald, I wouldn't be surprised if that really happened!

Perhaps @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom will drop a small hint about the upcoming companions in tomorrow's ESO Live event. This is probably unlikely since tomorrow's live steam event is focused on the upcoming Q3 Housing Update.
Speaking of, it would be wonderful if the "Special Furnishings" (VFX) category and the "Special Collectibles" (NPCs) category were both doubled from 5 to 10 (default) and 10 to 20 (ESO+) due to the upcoming housing update and new companions.
With 8 companions as well as a banker and a merchant, that maxes out the current 10 "Special Collectibles" category limit.
If ZOS keeps adding more companions, then there will not be enough "furniture-space" for all of them in any player's home.

For those of you who don't want a repeated Companion Class: Would it be acceptable to receive a Companion with different Class skills compared to the first Companion of their Class?

For instance, our Templar Companion, Isobel, doesn't have a Companion version of certain player Templar skills like Rune Focus, Eclipse, and Spear Shards. What if a future Templar Companion uses some of Isobel's Class skills, but also swaps some of them out for new Companion versions of these other Templar skills?

Then, going forward, every build on a Companion would be different, because there'd be no way to know which combination of skills would be given to any future Companion. That would make repeated Companion Classes much more interesting for future Companions, while keeping each Companion thematic to a particular Class.

Maybe different morphs of Class abilities could also be considered? Consider how different Repentance is in function and aesthetics compared to its other morph, Radiant Aura. That's material to make two different Companion abilities from, preferably given to two different Templar Companions.

Orc tank sword/shield and Coward personality.

Just puts his shield up and blocks constantly. This aggravates attackers (taunts) who remain focused on the companion.

Everything he says will be some idea that you should avoid danger.

Well I think the 8th NPC might be the test bed for a new class we might see next year.
Since Nord, Redguard and Orsimer/Orc are still missing, a non magical warrior class might be the best choice for that. I personally have not started ether Orc or Nord because of the lack of a proper non magical Warrior class. I'd love that as an addition so why not make that a companion for testing?

As for other companions I'd like to see:

I'd love to have a Dunmer Telvanni Mage!
Maybe the apprentice of a Master or maybe my own mouth/apprentice. I do not care for the gender as long as the personalty is right. I want the mage a bit overconfident but also skilled, competent and reliable. Maybe a bit rough on the edges but also likable. Someone who's respect you have to earn during the companion quest.

    A dauther of Coldharbor!
That sets the female gender and the Vampirelord trait.
As class the Necromancer might be ideal.
As for the race I'd like a human race, Maybe Nord. Well that might be a bit close to Serana from the TES V Dragonborn DLC. Yet I always enjoyed her. Otherwise a Breton might be good.
If the team does not mind evil companions a Dark Brotherhood member or Molag Bal cultist might be ideal for this. She needs to be an alluring beauty but also deadly.
Maybe let her turn us into a Vampirelord once we complete her quest?

    An Altmer Mage!
There are a lot of nice options! You can make a Psijic Monk, a Magister of the Sapiarch Collage, a Magister of Alinor or a Direnni Mage.
So many possibility's for characters of both genders and many personalty's.
I however want a mage that is cunning and of moral integrity! I want the mage to be confident and skilled. But I also want them to be proud showing the Altmer heritage.

    A Breton Spellblade/Battlemage Knight!
I know we have Isobel and yes I kind of like her, but she is more on the Paladin devoted to the gods type of character. I still miss the Breton knight that is also a competent mage (Spellblade or Battlemage). I do not care for the gender. I want them to be honorable, ambitious, skilled and mindful of the Direnni blood withing the Breton race. We sadly did not get as many visible Altmer features within the Breton race for character creation. I'd welcome some of them here.

Oh, where do I even begin with the absolute masterpiece that is the companion system in Elder Scrolls Online? I mean, they’ve really outdone themselves this time. The AI is truly a marvel—possibly the most inept artificial intelligence seen in a video game since, oh, the dawn of time. "Ah yes, a persistent AoE! Perfect spot to stand in and whine about how much damage I’m taking." Genius, truly.

And let’s not forget the only way they managed to make a companion remotely useful in the Infinite Archive: by making them cheat, of course. Top-notch design, that.

So, let’s be honest, the new companion class? Utterly pointless. But really, it’s no surprise, because underneath it all, every single companion, new or old, is nothing more than a worthless puff of code. Clearly, they've long since given up on this system, and fixing it? Perish the thought!

The only real use for a companion at this point? As a glorified house ornament. Because that’s all they’re good for.

    In short, why bother?

Let's be honest, there are a lot of people who enjoy companions for reasons other than what they bring to combat (like roleplaying with them and their storylines). You may not care about those things, but plenty of people do. You can see a lot of them on this board, in fact.

Also, I don't think the intention was ever to make them a replacement for tackling difficult content with other players. They just provide a little boost for solo players mostly. It may not make them helpful for you and your playstyle, but that doesn't mean they aren't working as intended.
