As we all know Dwemers disappeared long ago and NOBODY knows why and how. So do you really want to know how they disappeared, what was the cause. Who wiped them, or maybe they still alive(in which I strongly believe).

So do you guys want to know this in upcoming chapters?

The dwemer need to remain the huge mystery they've always been. AND I don't consider that "living in ignorance". I really hate that so many people post snarky poll options.

Do you actually believe the ESO writers are capable of writing a quality story befitting the most important revelation in elder scrolls history?

I don't think they'll get a green light to do that.
It should be a running gag in the ES series. Every now and then you'll get a piece of information but nothing absolute :)

Dwemers should be ES's Deadpool or Stan Lee.

There are very precise descriptions of why and how the Dwemer disappeared.
Search about "red mountain war", "heart of Lorkhan", "Kagrenac's tools"... or play TES III.

    Are they still alive ?
Probably not, as the most believable theory is that their bodies burned in a rush of magic energy.

    Do they still exist ?
This is the real question, whether Kagrenac's plans worked and Dwemers reached an "upper plane of existence", of if they just burnt in the process. But no one can confirm, as once you reach an upper plane, why would you go back down ?

It is likely a lore mystery created specifically to be a mystery. That's the entire point. We're only talking about it because we don't know. Remove the mystery and you remove all interest in it.

Most decent writers and designers are already gone from Beth. And ZOS... let's not talk about eso in that regard at all. With the lack of good word I'd just say I'm fine with a good mystery instead of infinite disappointment.

I don't know if it was exactly like that, but yes, Dwemer is off the table. Scuttlebutt says that Todd Howard knows and won't tell anyone.

Maintaining the mystery indefinitely is a cheap and poor quality move in storytelling, IMO. Same with Coldharbour Compact - they already killed Sotha Sil in Morrowind, so unless they make some other prequel game, ESO is the only one where they could uncover the price of this compact to begin with.

There is technically a "canon" answer, depending on how much stock you put into post-Morrowind Kirkbride nonsense. Given that he did put a lot of work into Morrowind, though, where the focal point of the mystery actually exists, I'm willing to accept his word as fact on that. At least until Bethesda offers an in-game canon reason, if they ever do. Which I don't think they should.

I prefer that the mystery of the Dwemer's disappearance remain a mystery.

Keep in mind that TES III Morrowind features you researching what happened to the Dwemer...some 700 years after ESO.

So if you explain the mystery in a future Chapter, you've also got to erase that knowledge.

I said yes. But I don't want that answer to come from ESO. I want that answer to come from the single player games.

Actually, Todd Howard said that he won't allow unveiling Dwemers fate, though I'm not sure about which game he was talking, ESO or future TES games :\

I doubt it would be revealed in ESO and not a main single-player game, if it ever is revealed. It is most likely linked to the Heart of Lorkhan and Numidium and they could be dead (in a non-existent kind of way)

The Dwemer didn’t disappear they achieved the singularity and merged with their machines, to become the new machine god as for told in the prophecy detailed in the elder scrolls.

Sometimes the appeal of a mystery like this is in the potential for a multitude of options and theories. If we had a concrete answer it wouldn't be fun to speculate anymore, so the answer would have to be good enough to make up for it, and I don't think it would be. Not because I dislike the writers, but because it would be extremely hard to do

Well yes, but Rich's view is actually "we were told "no", but we were also told no about Dragons, and I never gave up on them, so..."

I really hope they DON'T, because its just becoming Continuity *** https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ContinuityPorn, where everything makes a cameo, regardless of whether it makes sense or not.

I'm not opposed to meeting some random, stranded Dwemer or whatever, but you know what would be FAR better?

Make your own cool thing. Add something so fantastical and interesting and cool that it will have a profound effect on the franchise such that people will be saying in future titles "where is X from ESO."

If you can't do that in a convincing way, anything you do with the Dwemer is going to be boring, diluted fan service.

That's why I said no. I want it in the single player games, not here. I DO want more dwemer content, I'd even like to meet an isolated Dwemer like in tes 3 just to get another little peak at Dwemer. But I don't think this is the right game to reveal what happened to them at all.

Part of what makes them amazing is the mystery. It should remain a mystery.

A great analogy is I used to enjoy going to haunted houses this time of year. In my senior year in high school, I started working at a haunted house that I thought was pretty good as I had been through it before I worked there. After I worked there it no longer had that magical suspense and to make it worse, neither has any other haunted house since then.

We want to keep the magic and mystery of the Dwemer in place.

I thought that the agreed-upon theory was that the Dwemer basically became the "skin" of the Numidium.
