City of Ash I quest extra

Slight spoiler ahead.
I've just completed this on a new alt and was surprised to hear Mehrunes Dagon start speaking after turning in the quest at the end of the dungeon. I'm not sure if this was an easter egg or has something to do with the prologue but it was a sweet surprise

Update- it's not a new event, it's an old 1 using the new voice for Mehrunes

Yeah it’s been in the game for a long time and sadly you only hear it after the quest which is a shame seeing as it’s a nice touch.

Yeah it’s been in the game for a long time and sadly you only hear it after the quest which is a shame seeing as it’s a nice touch.

this is my first alt in a long time so now I wonder if there's anything like this for any other old dungeons or past prologues

I do believe they changed the voice of Dagon in the dungeon to match the one in Blackwood now.

Mehrunes Dagon in City of Ash does not have anything to do with Blackwood, because that's the way the city of ash has always been. There has always been an oblivion portal in there. The story has always revolved around Mehrunes Dagon and in the City of Ash 2, where the story continues, you'll explore Deadlands.

Do keep in mind City of Ash was released with the game (around 2014?) and city of ash 2 was released later on (around 2015?). Blackwood was released 6-7 years after.

It's been ages since I did the quest but it seemed like a new thing at the end..pretty sure Eveli was there and jumped into the portal while Mehrunes mentioned something about her

Edit- you're right, I just looked up a vid and the bosmer woman he mentioned was the 1 from within the dungeon not eveli..at least they updated his voice to match the Blackwood version

They make little updates to old content like this all the time.

For CoA1, they updated the voice acting. Originally, it was a generic bosmer male voice.

When the Wrathstone dungeons were released, they updated Tharayya's appearance in Volenfell to match her new appearance in the new dungeons.

When Orsinium was released, they updated the appearance of King Kurog in two base-game quests where he appears as a vision (Mages Guild and Main Quest).
