Its different every time, and depends on the number and size of patches being delivered along with standard maintenance. Anticipate it being down for several hours on maintenance days, and know that Zeni doesn't publish downtime estimates.

Maybe the six hour maintaince patch will finally fix the constant crashing... I'm scared of what'll be like when the dlc comes out. It's no wonder they're making it faster to level up... it's to compensate for all the down time.

Hey Gina, I'm not seeing a post with server status like I have in the past. Am I missing something, or did ZOS not make one for today's maintenance?

I hate to be critical, but it is frustrating that there does not seem to be a standard for notifying players of downtime, status, and ETAs.

Coming from a Sys Admin responsible for a globally distributed enterprise of many-thousands of servers, supporting over 117,000 users in every timezone across the globe, I understand how annoying it can be to get this kind of feedback from users when you have a job to do. But I also know how frustrating it is to be the user, and have no information. ;)

They've been doing maintenance WAY quicker on console than they were on PC at this point, be happy. If you are wondering when they are doing maintenance, they post a big yellow sticky box you can see at the top of every page. "Maintenance for the week of July 27"

Or being unable to message anyone in the game as they dont exist. But 6 hours is far too long, and why do they always do it in the middle of the day. Cant they do it early in the morning when it wont distrupt a lot of people.

Being happy that they do maintenance is irrelevant to my post.

I can see the notice that they are going to start maintenance. But it doesn't update to show it has started, and there is no post listing an ETA until a user asks and a mod replies.

Users should be notified of upcoming downtime, an estimated time frame for that downtime, and provided with details regarding what the downtime is for.

Please don't pull the "be happy you get anything" card, here. I have a valid point. I'm providing feedback on what I feel is a shortcoming in regards to communication from ZOS to it's players for maintenance.

It's an MMO new to this platform, with what I can only imagine is nightmarishly-complicated code to provide the interconnects with XBL; bugs will happen, and I'm sure they're fixing them.

The Devs are people, too, with jobs and families. They perform maintenance during the early day of weekdays, when most adults are at work. Asking them to do maintenance and patches overnight is not fair, as that would mean a LOT of employees would need to work a mid-shift schedule.

Why? I work rotas and shift periods that go from all times including night shifts. I dont think its that much of an ask to get one shift to work one night once a week or so, infact I bet theycould organise teams so its only once every 2 weeks or longer.

Why? Because asking a large portion of your employees to change their schedules, just to cater to the small percentage of players who are impacted by morning downtime, is asinine. I'm sure they based their maintenance windows around the times of lowest player population. No matter when they do maintenance, they will inconvenience someone. They have to pick the time when they will inconvenience the fewest players possible.

Well they're doing it on NA time so it just sucks a bit harder for us EU people who got knocked off at 11 and won't get back on til 5,
but starting at 6AM their time seems pretty reasonable to me. Not like they're taking liberties.

Because ZOS isn't a factory whose business relies on a 24/7/365 production line.

I never said be happy they're doing maintenance, learn 2 read. I said be happy they aren't taking as long as PC maintenance took when it was released.

If it says they're doing maintenance at 6am est...then they're doing maintenance at 6am est. There is your notice.

Don't get mad because I don't agree with you, I have a valid point. I'm providing feedback on what I feel is a shortcoming in console players patience levels.

    Console gamers... /sigh

If you pay attention to the forums, on the top of the page there is a big yellow banner informing all of use about server maintenance. It is usually posted a day before they take it down, and when you are online playing they give you warning at 30 minutes I believe? So they do inform us about downtime, just have to look around. About the ETA stuff.... really? On a normal maintenance night it's usually up in roughly an hour.

Yeah, I can see the yellow banner. It doesn't say when it will be done and it's been over 6 hours. Way to be a condescending ass though.

I am not being a condescending ass at all, It's not a normal server maintenance like the last few times so it's kind to be expected to take longer than usual.
