I'm having the same problem!! The three friends that I'm trying to play this with, can all play together. But I can't see them on my friends list and they can't see me. One tried inviting me through Xbox itself and through group in the game. I can receive his invite and accept but it tells him I declined and shows me I couldn't connect. I've tried inviting as well through searching for him through group and nothing. So no fix yet. It's super irritating and completely disappointing. What did I buy this game for if I can't play with the people I want to?

Yep. Same issue. On the XBL friend's list, my friends are on and playing. On ESO, it only shows 1 on that friend's list. Tried coordinating with them to find ourselves, but we could not see each other, except for the 1 friend I see on the game's friend's list. I suspect it might have something to do with the NAT.

Was coming to post the same thing. It is all screwed up. I have someone through the friends list on the dashboard that says he is online, he is one of the people that is inviting people to the guild but when I try to join him it says it cannot find him within the game.

There is also the issue where on the Xbox One Dashboard it is showing that I have 36 friends all playing ESO, but from within the game it says there are 7 only out of 34 which is really weird to me. I tried contacting those that show up on the dashboard but just get an error saying they cannot be found.

It just seems that with voice chat and no chat box it makes it hard to group up or even communicate with other people to join guilds. On the PC, I could of easily been in 5 guilds within 15 min, I managed to get into 1 guild in over 4 hours of playing on Console due to the poor communication tools provided.

Can anyone at ZOS explain the issues with friends list and how it is suppose to work? Also an ETA on when this will be fixed so we can actually join in with other players?

I'm having the same issue, a few of my friends don't appear on my In-game friendslist and I don't appear on their's... and when we use System invites to connect, it simply says "That character doesn't exist" and we can't play together.

I'm already regretting buying this game, I thought this game was supposed to work... what was the extra year-long wait even for?

Please fix this soon, before I write-off this game...

Having the same issue here. This is really quite sad, with how big of a mess the PC launch was you figured they would of gotten their act together for the console launch. Guess not.

Experiencing the same thing. This game does nothing for me if I can't join up with friends and roam around completing objectives. Might as well just go back to The Witcher.

Is anyone from ZOS reading this thread? Care to respond?

You decided to do Voice only, which is fine if other game systems are working, but they are not and it is not cutting it. We have people on our Friends List that we cannot join because the game is saying they don't exist, yet they are in the game playing.

Can we get any sort of response from a ZOS employee on this matter?

I was able to play with my friends by starting a group up in the social menu ... It only lasted 10 minutes before we got lagged out and kicked off

I'm having the same issue, but It's telling me there there are no friends online at all, when I try to search their gamer tag it just tells me they can't be found, ive tried pretty much every variation and method to get it to work and still nothing, this is kind of like the key feature of the game, to be able to interact and play along side your friends not just a bunch of random players doing their own thing, if anything should be your priority it should be fixing this!

This is an issue we're actively looking into. What we know so far is this seems to be impacting those who are adding existing friends from either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network to the in-game friends list. Here are a few additional details that may help:
    • Only friends who have logged into the same ESOTU console server as you will show up on your in-game friends list.
    • The sync between the Xbox Live and PSN friends lists and ESOTU can take several hours to fully populate.
    • On Xbox One, you must be mutual friends with someone, meaning you need to be following them, and they must be following you in order for them to show up on your in-game friends list in ESOTU.

The only work around I've found to work is to create a guild and add my friends to it. After that I invite them to group through the guild menu and haven't had any problems teaming up with them. But they only show up online via the guild menu.

The friends arent even showing up in game...the problem is not just the friends list not populating.

My brother and I are both on the NA server but we cant see eachother when both stnding at the same location coordinating over party chat...its as if we are in 2 different servers but we are not.

If you press start > social> group and then go scroll down to "group actions" and click the invite player button from there, you should be able to group up and play together by entering your friend's gamer tag. Try this until the friends list is fixed

I've found the work around for this as it happened to me last night......

Simply go to your friend/friends on your Xbox One while you have ESO launched in the background (Doesnt have to be snapped) and change the friendship status, remove your friend/friends from your friends list and get them to do the same, once you have done this re-add them again and get the to do the same again, go back into the game and then within a few seconds they should now appear under the social and friends tab in ESO.

Having the same issue - Friends List in ESO doesn't have any populated friends visible. Tried last night with two friends who are 'favorites' whom I was in a xbox live chat sessions with while all of us were playing ESO.

At first, I saw my friends list. Now every time I log on, it never shows. I don't receive guild invites and I can't accept group invites. This is a real bummer because I honestly feel left out.

Please fix this issue as soon as possible.

I'm glad I'm not the only person having this issue. I was playing with four other people and we were coming across those same issues. Only one of my friends (all who are on my xbox friends list) showed up on my friends list in the game, even though we all are on the North American server, and I could only invite him and we all agreed to meet in the same spot in Stonefall in order to find each other but nope - we couldn't see each other.

One of the big reasons I bought this game was specifically for being to able to play with my friends in a group...
