Attribute Points - What is the current theory?

Hello All,

I'm sure there will be a lot of these returning & new player help threads. I did try to search for info but everything I found is pretty old. I'm returning to my VR2 Templar and with all points being reset I need to rebuild my character but having been away for so long, I'm not sure how to invest my attribute points wisely.

I know it depends a lot on your build, class, and skills (magic vs stamina) but what about health? I mostly play solo but would like to start getting into group dungeons, trials etc.

My build is basically all light armor with magic skills and staffs. I don't use many stamina abilities, maybe Silver Bolts just as a filler. So do I want to go all points into Magic or split with Health? Some Stamina for roll-dodge? What ratio?

Thanks for any advice.

deliver them as you want to reach the stats you like wich depends on race and class.

for pve you should aim for 18k life at least more can be handy depending on your race and class this means 0-35 points
the rest should be put into you dmg/defensive resource unless you want or need the other resource for additional utility or more health when you are crappy avoiding voids...

in the end it completly depends on your preferences in pve and pvp.
spelling and grammar errors are free to be abused

What I have seen work in dungeons/trials is, at v14, you want about 21-23k health as a dps/healer 26k+ as a tank. That means you are aiming for minimum of 30 points into health and you can make up the rest between food, enchantments & set bonuses. Everything else goes into your primary resource pool... and truth is you want a heavy focus on your weapon/spell pwr, again depending on your preference. The major/minor buff change makes stacking things harder so you have to be more tactical (i.e. do i use inner light or spell crit pots?). Also, fyi, i would do away w/ the silver bolts and go for the evil hunter ability if u r gonna slot a stam ability like that. Hope that helps.
I only came to melt faces; I leave the whining to the rest of you.

The current consensus is that 18-19k HP is sufficient for all endgame content except for Sanctum. With all light armor, your HP won't make much difference because most of your deaths will be 1 shots due to the lack of damage mitigation. Certain bosses will hit you for 25k if you cannot avoid or block their attack, and you will not have anywhere near that much health.

Thank you all for your advice. It seems opinions vary anywhere from 18k-23k health as a target for dps/healer and the rest of the points into magic as a staff user.

However, looking at my character here is what I found...

With no attribute points and no champion points invested at VR2, I have 9415 health.

    30 points in health = 13,075 Health
    50 points in health = 15,515

It seems I cant get anywhere near 18K+ health. Is this correct for VR2 or am I doing something wrong?

Are you using food? Stats on forums are ALWAYS posted with food buffs included because you should be using food 100% of the time. Also, note that champion points add quite a bit of straight magicka, HP, and stamina. If you are lacking in CP, you are probably down a few hundred points that most other players have.

For VR2, you're fine. Hitting the 20k is probably going to be hard unless you've got VR10-14 glyphs and gear, and are constantly eating food. My VR5 hits 20k, but she's an Imperial (12% increase to health, passive) and has Cyrodiil buffs. Without those, health would drop below 18k, which is normal.

My advice, play as you want. Give yourself the stats you need to play and level through the content. When you do reach VR14, then you can respec attributes so that, with gear enchants, you hit the magical 20k. Oh, and always factor food into the equation as well.

So you have more information, in my build I put all attribute points into health. It's the 1.5 way of doing it, but it works for me. All armor is enchanted with stamina, jewelry gives magicka and reduce magicka cost, and I pretty much always eat tri-stat food. I'm a tank, so with that, I have:

    Health - 28k
    Magicka - 18k
    Stamina - 14k

When I swap gear to be healer, health drops and magicka goes up. Hope that helps!

I guess I was trying to take one thing at a time, trying to figure out what to do with attribute points first. I do have several champion points. I think 3W/2T/2M but I really have no idea what to do with those. I am also level 50 provisioner so I was planning to look into food as well, just wanted to figure out where to spend these points first.

Solo content is easy enough. I've been doing just fine even though I still have not spent any of these points. I just want to be able to do PVE group content and not be the weak link that is dying every other fight because my health is too low or not be able to keep the group healed because I didn't invest enough points in magic.
