New Player Dragonknight

Hi guys. I played this game in beta but never got it when it came out. I just bought it yesterday and started leveling a dragonknight. I have been following this build guide. Does anyone know if this is still accurate for 1.6?

I plan on doing mainly pve dungeons and raiding (trials). PVP is not really much of a concern for me. I want to play as the tank role. Looking for what the best build for that is in 1.6. Also, looking for some suggestions while leveling. Like which skills should I priortize getting/morphing first. Where should my attributes be going. I have been mainly using sword and shield but should i be leveling with something else? When unlock my second weapon set should I use another sword and shield like the guide does or go with something else just for the leveling process? Unfortunately when I started yesterday, the guide I was looking at first (not the one i linked above) told me to dump all my points into stam but looking at deltia's build he has everything in health and magic. When can I refund skill and attribute points? Like, how long do I have to wait? I am level 8 and currently running quests in Glenumbra. Thanks for your help.

Heres where you went wrong, you started playing as Daggerfall Covenant. Health and magicka and a few point in Stamina and put all your skill points into blocking passives.

DC is great (the best 'feeling' zones for me), and so is the choice of an Orc for a DK, if you want to build your DK around high health regeneration - orcs are one of the two races that get +30% to it.

Stat reset is possible in the city of Wayrest(stormhaven, the 15-22 zone), but i wouldn't worry about it. The game is very much playable no matter where you put your points, at least until you get to the endgame. Just make sure you bash mob spellcasts, block their heavy attacks, and stay out of red ground, and you'll do fine.

Nothing wrong with being DC. I am a Breton with most of my attribute points in health and some in stamina. All my armor has stamina enchantments & I wear full heavy. All the race passives for Breton's are magika based which is fine in my opinion because I don't have to waste an enchamnent slot on my gear for magika to make up for it.

I was running with some VR14 guys yesterday in craglorn going in dungeons and they were pretty impressed that I was only VR10 tanking VR13 - 14 bosses pretty good. Mind you my gear is also VR5 atm.

Feel free to PM me if want/need some further help

No prob man. If this is going to be your main character you should do all the main quests to get xp. You get skill points along the way as well. Kill everything in your path & make sure to get quests for the mage & fighters guilds so you can level those up as you go. You will definitely be putting some time in but it will be worth it in the end. Good luck!

Yea my friends I want to play with went Daggerfall Covenenant so I chose the same. I went with an orc because some people said that race is decent for dragonknight tanking. I don't suppose there is a race change service in this game like WoW? Definitely not going to start over at this point so I am just stuck with it I guess if I can't change it any way. I have about 4 points in stam right now so I guess i will hold off on increasing that any further and focus more on magic and health now. Any idea when I can reset those? Like I know you can do it in the major cities but how long til I get there?

Drop the orc while you still have little time invested. Health regen has never been a relevant statistic even for a tank. The bottom line is you get health from heals. Regen will never be a significant contribution as it is orders of magnitude to slow. Tanks need damage mitigation and you get that from Nords and better still Imperials. You would be better even with a magica race such as High elf or Breton for tanking as you could pop more self heals or even wood elf for massive stamina regen as that is hard to manage now. As a person who has a max level Orc I implore you, do not make my mistakes. You will grow to loathe the Orc. It is truly the worst race in the game and is not legitimately good at anything. Even the Argonian is better.

Re-roll your race now and leave that Orc as a storage alt. You will thank me I promise.
I am mostly pleased with the current state of ESO. Please do continue to ban cheaters though and you guys have to find out who is duping gold and how because the economy is currently non-functional.

That was all very true before 1.6 removed the softcaps. You can now get health regen to very high numbers (~3500) with the right setup. Getting 3500 health back every 2 seconds is nothing to scoff at, especially when you have high damage mitigation from heavy armor and DK abilities.

I should also mention that the only bonus worse in the racial passives than health regen is the Orc's stupid + sprinting and shield bashing garbage. 2 of the 3 Orc bonuses are the worst in the game and the third is only mildly useful. Hell, I'd even prefer the gimmicky Argonian fast swimming thing to health regen or a sprinting buff. It's just as useless but at least its fun and one of my buddies used it to swim though the slaughter fish to see imperial city.

It's charge attack damage, not shield bash damage.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I will have to make a decision here although I think at this point I am just stuck. I would love to reroll but that is just so many hours of leveling down the drain. I am level 11 as of last night and it took me almost all day Sunday and last night to get there (like 14 hours). If it was like other games where 1 - 10 takes like 2 - 3 hours I wouldn't care but having to redo all 14 hours of that is painful (if you haven't noticed leveling is my least favorite part of MMO's). I guess if I go imperial I can choose daggerfall covenant again and just skip all the dialog up to where I am now. Thanks again for your help.
