SPELLSWORD

TL:DR: I am trying to improve my experience with ESO by trying to make it more like Morrowind instead of worrying about all the kiddies with biggest baddest damage potential and "The Meta". For me I looked over the old school pre-made classes and said okay ...I like spellswords :) take a look below for my input and questions.

And as always....F*@! the Meta.

Hi everyone,

been fooling around mostly with all the different classes (Sorc, Templar DK and NB) trying to get the flavor of each class.

I am finding each class is very fun overall and each really makes the game different in its own manner.

My favorite role to play these days is more of a support role and traditionally speaking enhancing myself to become stronger in melee (also dual wielding swords or 1 hand sword + spell other hand...or Gandalf style staff + sword which I cant do...)

To give an idea of a familiar specific class it would be like the Mesmer from guild wars 2...Melee based...Greatsword + Dual Swords.

Supports his teams with portals, utility but also does a lot of DPS.

I see each class to be very specific and has traits similar to a spellsword...however I am confused which one best fits the theme.

Dragonknights
- Destruction skills - fire based - makes sense
- Self buffing makes sense
- Melee based and good synergy

Templars
- Restoration skills for support
- Good damage
- Literally casting a spell while fighting in melee (Reflective light)
- Jesus beam!!!!

Sorc:
- Most obvious
- Lightning and overload AWESOME
- PETS AWESOME
- selfbuffing armor and crit surge awesome!!!
- not much in terms of melee synergy

Nightblade
- alteration magic
- Good synergy melee
- Not really "spell-y"

What does the community think?

I cannot make up my mind at all and feel I am just going to go back to GW2 simply because I feel I cannot decide to get the class I want.

I have gotten each class to 20 and have a BASIC (limited) feel for each and what to expect however as much as I hate it - it will change eventually as the meta evolves endgame where in Vet content I cannot use perhaps dual wield or I cannot use what worked while leveling.

Its both good and painful sadly.

Judging by what you described, I would suggest templar. They are a lot of fun to play on the PTS in 1.6, and you can melee while supporting your group with shards. Also, the only instant heal for you and your allies.
I'm 12, and what is this?

    Thanks and I somewhat agree.

Templar definetly sounds like the correct class overall but there is ONE part bugging me and id love some feedback on it.

Classical Major Skills of a spellsword:
    - Long blade
    - Blunt Weapon
    - Heavy Armor
    - DESTRUCTION
    - ALTERATION

So the only part we are really missing is the destruction part and alteration....I was thinking of getting Meteor (Shooting Star) as the ultimate to somewhat give me the classical fire class destruction touch...Alteration though...I am SOL...what do I do about that?

I was thinking of going as Dual Wield Maces :D and 5 medium armor and 2 heavy armor (Chest and Shoulders).

The idea with the maces is to give me a "Warrior Paladin" look along with my weapon swap as Greatsword for "Longblade".

That way I have blunt and long blade...Restoration as a Templar duh...also heavy armor and medium armor will flow perfectly.
