Solo PVE Sorc here and I generally like most of the changes in 1.6 besides the Light Armor one...

Hello,

I play a Solo PVE Sorc.

Having played on the pts a bit now I generally like the changes in 1.6 because they go towards the type of Sorc I want to play. With the amount of grief there is I guess I am bit unusual.

Pets - I like pets and I like the changes to pets.
Lighting - I like lightning. I spam light resto staff and endless fury to proc CF most of the time. I also like that lighting flood and overload are becoming useable now.
Resto staff - I like resto staff. I use Mutagen as the heal I spam and heavy attacks to get back resources when I can.
Shield stacks - I stack shields. It works and is really needed with the nerf on Light Armor now.

I personally don't like Destro staff and I did not like the concept behind the old crit surge / impulse meta. But I used to have to do it to survive. Standing in the middle of a group block spamming was ***. Lightning flood is coming close to be a reasonable replacement for when it is called for but the extra duration and damage hinted at in 1.6.3 is needed to get it over the line.

The hinted change to the storm tree cost reduction in 1.6.3 worries me. I try to choose very cheap spells and make them cheaper for sustain.

I don't use crushing shock. It would be better to have a "sorc crushing shock equivalent" in the class skills. I think making the Crystal Frags morph an instant is the answer. The knockback does not work much now in 1.6

Now it is coming close to being able to use lighting flood as an AOE and Energy Overload for sustain when you run out of magicka. I am happy to trade crushing shock I don't use for a usable crystal frags, lighting flood and overload.

The light armor nerf was a big shock. I understand why ZOS did it but they went way to far. I have been training researching Heavy Armor for the last 2 weeks in preparation for the change on live. I will be running 5H / 2L when 1.6 hits live. If Light armor goes live as it is, light armor is over. I think there will be A LOT of heavy armor come March 17th with the newbies.

If it was done right it would be:

Heavy = max physical mitigation / 25% spell with health buff
Medium = 50% both physical and spell mitigation with stamina buff
Light = max spell mitigation / 25% physical with magicka buff

Honestly I thinking they have put themselves between a rock and hardplace with light armor. If the mitigation was 2/4 of heavy armor it would give them more room and people in cloth still wouldn't be able to tank.

However now they can tank even more effectively then plate with shield stacking. No reason to put points in health anymore.

I agree that LA needs better spell penetration but should only increase spell power.

As for the other abilities I find daedric just resource intensive. Pets take to much of the ability bar and provide very little for it. Honestly toggle should be up even if you weapon swap without it on. It's only after they are taken off they should be despawn them.

Daedric minefield also needs a proper tweek, when it triggers it should be AoE damage not single target to the person who triggered it and should have better trigger radius to prevent people from slipping through it.

Sorcerers just don't look great for PTS unless your niche specced. The proposed changes to lightning flood won't do much for DPS unless the cost is reduced.
