Good Character builds?

I'm having trouble building a character I like--So much so that in 4 or so months the highest level I have is a 21. He was supposed to be a dk tank. He's in all heavy armor, and good armor at that. (I can't even wear a helmet or my armor gets overcharged in the character menu) He uses 1h and shield, and I've dumped all but 3 or so of my skill points into health. I decided to join Cyrodiil, and I had a level 10 nb kill me before the animation of getting off my horse was finished. I would like some advice on a good pvp build that can also survive in the story line missions. Also, I'm a argonian. I've made argoinians since daggerfall.

With level 21, you're going to have a hard time in Cyrodiil, at least when it comes to 1v1. Also, bear in mind that the death recap does not show your opponents level but its alliance rank.

To take some of the pressure from you: If you're unmounted in Cyrodiil, you'll find yourself in a severe disadvantage, no matter what your build looks like. That is what gankers live for and they will most often finish you with some enormous burst damage right after unmounting you. Try to ride with groups! You'll find that with increasing level, you survive longer and longer. Until then, siege weapons are fun as well. ;)

Don't sweat the Overcharged so much. It's very easy to get there on lower level characters. It will go up as you level (the cap) and you can always re-adjust via enchants.

Remember, OC doesn't mean no returns, just lesser ones.

Low level in Cyro, remember a few things:
    • If you solo, DK or not, plan on spending a lot of time in stealth. Better to arrive late in one piece than to try to arrive four times.
    • That being said, bring a friend, if you can. Sometimes a 2nd set of eyes can make all the difference.
    • That L10 that killed you is probably an alt of someone much higher on another character. You'll see the level when you mouse over them, but the alliance rank in the recap.
    • Try the support roles and run with groups. Lookouts, seige, defense all can be fun and rewarding. Defend alongside the honor guard...let your VR14 pals nearby do the heavy hitting when you're engaged. (In short, don't stray too far from the herd)
    • Make sure you have Battle Leveling on in your settings (default)

Go there in spurts, get a feel for it.

It's a whole different world, unique and rewarding all its own.

Last piece of advice, advance your PvE. While quite different than your PC enemies will be, it will still let you learn your skills, counters, distance, and timing.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.
