1.6.2. Nerf Crushing shock

My Templar and sorc running crushing shock in their rotation only lost about 200 dps if that on average. It's not a huge nerf, unless you used it as your prime source of damage. Although, I tried out the new destructive touch dot and it did more damage than anticipated. Has anyone tried that in conjunction with CS?

Just another reason why some players are leaving the game. Don't know what kind of mind set ZOS is in and the reasoning behind this nerf. In my opinion it is wrong and totally unwarranted. Those folks who play characters who use Crushing Shot have evey reason to complain and ZOS needs to listen.

Nerfs are a fact of life in MMO's. if people are leaving because their build got "balanced/changed" they should probably avoid mmo's.

If Crushing Shock didn't need to be nerfed, then why has it recently become the sole DPS ability for a large number of PvP builds? When every other dueler seems to be running a build centered on using nothing but Crushing Shock for DPS, there's gotta be something up with it.

Because there is no other option ?
Ranged magical DPS' rely on crushing shock, there is no other option. And crushing shock does not give us compareable DPS, that melee DPS's can do.

Crushing shock already got nerfed, since it is not affected by flawless dawnbreaker anymore. They should have increased the damage to balance it, but they decide to decrease it even further -.- this is ridiculous and it's making me angry.

The range gives you an advantage that melee dps does not have. If damage was equal, why melee? It's kind of a risk vs reward thing.
In PVE I agree somewhat, in pvp not a chance. Just about every melee you see has a gap closer. So much for the risk factor.

The risk of being melee has nothing to do with gap closers or getting kited. It has to do with just being in melee in general. Is that gap closer you have going to reduce the risk to you when it's 10 vs 10, 20 vs 20, 100 vs 100. No if you jump into melee in those situations your are at much greater risk then the caster shooting from 28+ meters away. That is why melee is designed to have higher dps. They typically have a shorter time frame to accomplish there goal then a ranged player.

    You are *very* wrong.

Healing Templars use it when asked to DPS and my NB friends tell me it is higher DPS than Funnel Health. This single skill is the cornerstone for *every* magicka based DPS.

You are right about one thing, sorcs don't have anything better and that is precisely the reason why my DK will always beat your sorc in raid DPS. I can use unstable flame and engulfing flames and flames of oblivion to supplement my crushing shock while you have ... nothing else.

Sorcs are their own worst enemies. They tell ZoS to buff CS...fine let's say they get their wish...guess what I will *still* beat you because my DK uses that skill. Certain other sorcs come on these threads and gloat about how THEY can pull 1.4 DPS (while not uploading videos to prove this as DKs do). If I was someone who derived pleasure from schadenfreude, then all this would be most amusing...

Good observations. In my other posts I considered "CS is being used by all classes" as well.

Yet nerfing CS effects sorcerers the most, as they have the lowest dps already and CS is a bigger percentage of their DPS (just like you have mentioned too).

Among this, indeed it is not a matter of single spell buffs or nerfs, but it is the fact that playing as a sorcerer should have a benefit this way or that way (again talking about PVE only). It is obvious, the benefit of being a sorcerer is not (and should not be) there as a tank or as a healer, so all we left is DPS. Even having a proper dps (not the best) sould stop most of the sorcerers complaints, if not all... ZoS should try to do this, while having a good balance in PVP as well...

Has anyone seen the pictures of the guy getting more class dmg for his sorc from 2h than with a destro? Shows how 1.6 will be.

If you relaly want to look at it, Crushing Shock has taken an indirect 23% nerf bat to its damage.

it lost its 13% passive damage bonus from slotting Flawless Dawnbreaker.

Now it takes another 10% nerf...honestly..im not sure Crushing Shock is even viable to use at all anymore...i'll find another way to make up the loss, i few ideas i will have to try, but its really a bummer as i always thought CS was a cool skill.

If the nerf brings some more variety to builds I'm all for it, I have to say. Although I still think the other morph without the interrupt could have kept the full damage.

    Agreed

if they would have left Force Pulse alone, i would have not said a word...then you get a choice...more damage and multiple targets, or less damage but interrupt. That would seem fair to me.

Honestly I am giving up on Sorcerers and ZoS efforts "fix" them is just outright break the class and playstyle into leather for stamina melee, heavy armor to survive PvP and relying on other skill lines to get the job done.
    .

So hyperbolic. A 10% nerf to crushing shock does not mean you have to use heavy armor to survive in PvP. Max Magicka + Hardened ward + Healing Ward + bolt escape still offers the best PvP survivability when well executed.

LOL, so Eric Wroble (sp?) just said on ESO Live that they nerfed Crushing Shock because it's too OP in PvP because it also interrupts on every cast. He then said that Players can use Force Pulse for PvE (so fail) to get the damage back from the CS nerf. Do they even play this game?

No but he did go into a fairly long discussion about sorcs and incoming buffs like Lightning Splash going up to as much as 10 sec (with a morph).

with the change of force shock to count only as one projectile when beeing reflected has anyone checked if it counts still as three attacks in terms of magica refill in combination with elemental drain and siphon spirit?
or if that has been "accidently" screwed aswell?

How about they balance class skills with class skills, and weapon skills with weapon skills?

The fact that the one is almost always necessary to be effective with the other is the major issue.

This would allow anyone the freedom to choose the combinations they wanted without absolute reliance on a particular setup (2H, Crushing Shock, Bow...you name it.)

As a Sorc, I absolutely abhor that a weapon skill has to be one of the major contributors to a useful combination.

The weapon should be the secondary source of damage, not the main. If it were, no one would blink an eye at a 10% redux to CS.

I would be happy to live with the Crushing Shock nerf if they would give the Sroc a viable ST basic attack to replace it. It seems none of the other classes are as dependent on it.
