Templar - Altmer/Breton/Imperial for 2H Solo Build

I want to start a 2 Hand Weapon based Templar for solo playing and now i try to figure out which race would make sense to go for.

Imperial has Stamina and Heal-on-Hit bonuses but i'm not clear if Stamina is really helpful for a 2H Tenplar that deals Lightning Dmg and just needs the Stamina for his swings and maybe some blocking. Also if Red Diamond is healing enough to give it a try is a question.

Breton seems to be a good choice because of the magicka based attacks of the Templar and if this costs less and has more magicka to spend it would be a nice benefit. The spell resistance is good but i wont tank so is it really needed? The Light Armor bonus instead would be wasted as i will go for heavy armor focus.

Altmer feels good for me because of the damage boost and the magicka boost and regeneration. Only useless thing for this build would be the destro staff passive.

I'm not really sure what i will go for at the second slot as a restoration staff may provide more survivability or a sword-n-board for heavy enemies.

Would be great if you could help me figuring out a good race for my build ;-)

Edit: The character is meant to be like a crusader, i won't use a bow like i have seen in many builds cause it doesn't fit to a crusader in my opinion and i don't like range chars. It should be a melee character with some selfheal/shield to survive and enough damage output to kill enemies in accurate time.
I'm still not sure if it will be a stamina or magicka addicted way.
Is stamina based an option for the kind of templar i want to play?

I tried DK until lvl 36 and a NB to lvl 30 but both of them don't fit my style.

I played a templar as first char to lvl 16, i dumped him because he felt kinda lost if magicka was empty, that was in the first 2 weeks of ESO release but in general i loved the feeling bursting enemies with lightning and steel :-)

It would also help me if you could tell me if the race choice in VR ranks makes any difference or if not.

If you're a Templar, how do you plan to deal lightning damage?

Also imperial helps loads of you pursue a stamina build. Breton and Altmer are for caster builds.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

You are right, it's holy not lightning XD

I think i will try it with imperial even if i decide to go for heal or more holy(!) damage later on it won't be a big issue.

Actually its just 'Magic' damage. It is resisted by Spell Resistance and not a typed elemental resistance. That's the only real distinction. The only class with innate lightning is Sorceror, and there are a lot of lightning 2hander builds out there for that class. I also think you shouldn't forget the Redguard as a potential race for your stamina monster. The changes to Bosmer in 1.6 are also interesting, though I suspect not quite what you want. Redguard however has as a stamina return on attack ability similar to Red Diamond in imperial. They don't have the same base health, but instead they have huge stamina regeneration. I really think Breton/Redguard/Imperial is the best pick here since they are all pretty straight forward. Breton + Templar means you'll have nice reduction on all of your magicka abilities and a little boost to your spell resistance which is never bad. Imperial + Templar means you'll have nice raw stats to health and stamina which fits your crusader theme well, Red Diamond is also a plus since you intend to be melee only. Redguard + Templar means you'd have less health than the Imperial, but you'd also have more stamina based resources to keep hitting hard and fast. Its a more aggressive and less defensive build.
