Templar Combat Responsiveness

First off, Focused Charge is much improved. It now feels like a viable option. Nonetheless, it still has a pronounced delay over other charge abilities. I do not understand why it needs to have this lockout period. It does nothing but simulate high ping. It's awful. Still, I'll take the current implementation over the last one. I just think it could be better.


Next up is the new ability, Radiant Destruction. I love this ability. I love that I finally have the options available to play an effective ranged caster templar, to complement my main focus of healing. No more are the days of switching between keeping my distance to heal and charging in with a sword and shield to fight. No more do I feel obligated to spam Puncturing Sweep. In fact, of all the changes, a significant new play style option for my main is one of the biggest reasons I'm coming back.

There is just one problem. The spell has an insufferable delay before casting. I thought we were working to improve combat responsiveness, but this spell just takes WAY too long to get going. Perhaps it is a balance concern? I'd rather it deal slightly less damage than delay long enough to let my opponent heal back up before it even hits them. I saw a thread about this in general discussion, but it seems a PTS issue to me.

Beyond that, I am really enjoying the refreshing new spell animations, along with nearly every other major change this patch. 1.6 really knocked it out of the park.

    Agreed, long cast./induction times are a fun-killer no matter how bit the numbers are when the spell finally fires.

    It's really just an animation issue. The first tick of damage occurs very shortly after you release the button, well before your character appears to have done anything. I've already submitted /feedback on it, I'd encourage you all to do the same.

    The Radiant Destruction cast hasn't been an issue for me on the PTS. It seems like a sensible kind of balance along with being channeled and hasn't keep it from being an effective part of the arsenal.

    It's not balance. As I already said, the first tick of damage happens immediately. The animation is just slow and awkward.

    I hadn't noticed the damage started immediately. I'll have to check that out.

    As for feedback, I did send it in the in-game feedback menu. Oddly, the game lagged extremely bad every time I hit a key to type it. That's probably the weirdest thing I've ever encountered in this game.

    I haven't either, but there have also been latency issues at times on the PTS Cyrodiil campaign. Especially the night of the dev vs dev battle.

    i just tested it in craglorn for me from europe using recount for time stamps its roughly 0.7-0.8sec between activation and the first dmg tick.
    spelling and grammar errors are free to be abused

    It does - I can confirm. The weird seeming pause at the beginning of BoL is annoying though...
