Get rid of friends being visible.

I dont understand why ZOS would change this, everyone complains about the notifications popping up on screen and now they added friends to, so if a friends online you always see a little number on screen. This has to go. Don't throw it into the "get an addon" area to get rid of it. If I want to see who's online, pressing "o" isn't that difficult. This ruins immersion and its kind of obvious its there for consoles owners...but I'm not a fan.

What number, where? I hate not being able to go to PTS just yet. But the number of friends online was always visible in chat window, so what changed?

It doesn't disappear now, so you always see the number.

Or just give us the options to hide it in settings....
I don't feel like were asking to much here. At least with mail and notifications we can get rid of them, I haven't found a way to hide it when friends are on.

Agreed, it's really not difficult to press "o" to see which friends are online and I couldn't take my eyes off the number of friends appearing. I don't like it.

Im not even sure why they changed it, seemed silly to me.
I would like ZOS to acknowledge that they at least have seen this thread, so i can stop bumping it lol. A like, a smiley, just so i know they've seen it lol

I agree. It takes nothing to press either "O" to see who is online, or "Enter" to make the number appear. It boggles the mind actually that ZOS would add a permanent piece of clutter to their "minimalist" UI.

I agree, just let us decide for ourselves in settings whether we want it not visible at all/visible for x amount of time after a friend logs on/permanently visible. Surely that is not too big an ask?

I don't like this change either, it's distracting and it needs to go. It just kept catching my eye the whole time I was playing and I agree, it ruins immersion.

I never see when friends join and leave in the chat box. This way I am not going to miss them.

Maybe a swap of mail and friends icons is in order so that the friends icon is all the way to the left.

You can easily just press "O" while if ZOS keeps it, there is no way around for us to get rid of annoying number on the screen.

One of many to lazy to press one button apparently lol. Fact is you have a workaround, we don't. So are you saying we should be stuck with something because a few people can't press one button? Why should all the people have to put up with a number we can't get rid of because pressing one button is to difficult to "many" people.

I don't know how many times I can word this to make it easier to understand but come on dude...

Options are good. Make it a toggle, default it to "On" if you must.

For one thing, there absolutely should be a toggle.

More importantly, the number is in a really distracting place. I only have a screenshot taken in the bank in Bal Foyen (keep forgetting to take screenshots during combat), but even here the floating "1" is annoying.



A far better place to put it would be in a corner, where it is easy to ignore if it bothers you.

I submitted a feedback over this and it is very irritating... please change it back. Or let me remove the icon, make it more transparent... do something... it's such an eyecatcher being all bright white in an akward place!

More social "encouragement" vs. an opt-in approach, which preferably should be the way they build most things of this nature.

Maybe it was a time and/or cost decision because enable/disable toggles client-side does increase support costs. Who knows why really... Pure speculation on my part clearly.

I'm more annoyed they keep doing these little things that really do impact our quality of playtime more than the things themselves.

Thank goodness they've not yet prevented us from coding these away.

I get a message in my chat when friends come online or go offline. But a toggle is fine, or a way to fade it... move it anything realy.

Yes, it's a strange thing.
If I want to see who is online on my friends list I'll press 'O'.
I don't think we need the little icon visible constantly.
