Sorcerer: Volatile Familiar Bugged?

I am not sure if this a bug or not. Based on the tooltip, which doesn't mean much since the tooltips are so vague, it seems like a bug.

Volatile Familiar: Summons an explosive familiar to attack enemies. Explodes on death or upon unsummoning, causing 12% of your Max Magicka as damage and stunning nearby enemies for 2 seconds. Toggle to activate. Reduces Max Magicka by 10%. Familiar deals 30% additional damage.

I read this as meaning 1) If the familiar dies, he explodes and stuns everything nearby or 2) If the familiar is unsummoned, he explodes and stuns everything nearby.

Currently when you unsummon the familiar it explodes and causes damage but it doesn't apply the stun. Is this intentional? The whole reason I got this ability was for the on command stun (which I need as a tank).

Does anyone have any insight?

Must be a bug in the code that triggers a different explosion without a stun.

My guess is they did this because on purpose so people couldn't easily desummon for an easy stun.

When I tested volatile familiar last time, it didn't explode on death at all. That is, neither unsommon nor getting killed by an enemy triggered its explosion.

Currently it only does this measly familiar melee attack.
