Dumb question here but was in the beta and just came back. Are Dark Evlves a bad choice or can they be viable. I like the look and they seem to be a bit more durable and more of a battle mage. Any thoughts.

You'll have all the fire resist you need to battle a DK; the other passives are nice as well. It is certainly a good race.

I think they're great especially if you want to use Fire Staves. That 7% additional damage is very nice.

Actually the fire damage bonus doesn't do much for sorc. Only skill it effects is meteor. Still a great race though

Well it used to. Used to be all flame damage. I noticed the changed it to spell power with fire though in the tool tip.

Hopeful the upcoming change to all magicka using spell power will bring that back.

Are you sure that it still doesn't apply to all fire damage. I always get slightly more from the Fire part of crushing shock and in a test with white no trait VR14 destro I get ~4-5% more damage with the Fire Elemental ring. This is on a Dunmer NB so no other fire damage buffs except flame talent. I have to do a respec soon and I will test this more thoroughly.

I'm not sure. Was just taking his word for it. The language in the tool tip is differnt though.

Ok. I tested it with SCIENCE. Meaning I impulsed VR9 mammoths naked for 20 minutes.

    Results
NB VR14 1365 Magicka 118 Weapon damage , No clothes,No destro passives. No LA passives. Everything with CLS
no Flame talent trough 3 Flame Talent
    Light attack
    119
    122(119*1.03=122.6)
    125(119*1.05=124.95)
    127 (119*1.07=127.30)
    Impulse lvl4
    128
    131(128*1.03=131.84)
    134(128*1.05=134.40)
    136(128*1.07=136.96)

    Burning
26 without 28 with 3 points in flame talent

I haven't tested the Crushing Shock part but I expect it to be the same.
So if we do the maths what we get is that what the passives does is not a increase in weapon or spell damage with fire spells but a flat percentage increase of the damage done with fire spells including those from Destro staff as well as light and heavy attacks done with a Inferno staff and burning. Also there seems to be no indication in the impulse tool tip.

You get fire resistance, bonus for Damage with fire staffs, and a bonus to magicka (not quite as much as altmer but some).

    Yes Dunmer Sorceror is viable.
