DKs are ridiculous in pvp

The real reason that dragonknights are seen as an overpowered class by the community has nothing to do with actual power, and everything to do with versatility.

They have roots to deal with melee opponents. They have spell reflect to deal with ranged opponents. They have a self heal and damage shield to improve general survivability. They have damage over time attacks to put out moderate single target damage, they have fairly decent area damage attacks, they've got an area hit chance debuff, they've got fairly good resource generation options with green dragon blood and battle roar, and all three of their ultimates are useful in a variety of situations.

Most classes are lacking one or more of those things, so they always have one situation which the class is really weak at dealing with. I guarantee that if you gave every class an area root and a spell/projectile absorbing or reflecting ability, they'd be considered just as "OP", simply because they'd now have the tools needed to deal with any situation thrown at them.

The only real weakness built into the dragonknight class was lack of long range options, but that isnt really an issue in this game because range means little in both pvp and pve.

It should also not be forgotten that dragonknights were the first class developed, and had the most development time spent on them. They're the most 'complete' class because of that, while other classes are lacking in certain areas because they didnt receive the amount of time and attention from the developers that they should have.

    /agreed.

I wouldn't say that range means little, but I would say that the greatest weakness of the DK class (lack of range) is most the most easily rectified of any class: all they have to do is make sure one of their two weapons is ranged.

Templars are 'just slower... by design'
Yes, Gina actually said that (at least regarding Rushed Ceremony) right here:

it really is a L2P though. DKs can tank those types of numbers because they are going up against pugs and they actually know how to 1vX. If you ever watch those videos about 1vX, its against random pugs who do the stupid stuff that the DK wants them to do and thats how he kills them.

    If your NB:
    - fear
    - shades/light attacks to beat down their stamina and then CC
    - constantly move around
    - aoe

    If your sorc:
    - curse
    - pet explosion
    - aoe

    if your templar:
    - dark flare healing debuff (if they use wings constantly, time it with eclipse)
    - blazing shield
    - blazing spears
    - aoe

If your group cant take down 1 DK, you all need to practice up.

So true, guys like myself and other 1vX DKs play off of silly players who sit too close and use the wrong skills or use projectiles as we reflect. Very simple mistakes that add up and make the DK stronger.

I love this :) Don't get close to the dk then! Ok cool yea good idea ill shoot him from range. Ah crap reflect! oh no, ok ill zap him with my staff - well..... his magic regen is enough to absorb that damage all day. Right - ill fear him. Ahhhhh hes wearing light armour but he still has access to immovable... dam that didnt work.... k best get away from him, oh wait cant! talons with no cc timers !!!! CRAP . Right ill use cloak. Or not it doesn't work, conclusions dont engage dk... cool um what do i do when hes on the flag of a keep im trying to defend?

Now i know i can build specifically to beat a dk maybe in a long drawn out 1v1 - although id suggest that this is nit possible at the top level as the duelling tournament was won by a dk so hmmm.

Please don't shout at me for pointing out the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS:)

I think the biggest issue here is that Reflective Scales sends back arrows somehow, which in my mind makes zero sense.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

It makes perfect sense, the class with no range abilities has a skill that allows him to reflect projectiles.

No class skills that is. There is nothing stopping a dk from picking up a bow or staff and going to town on people.

I must have the only DK build that isn't OP. I don't die all the time but I don't consider my build OP. I feel like I wearing no armor sometimes when all I get hit with is Dark flare, crystal frag, biting jabs, bat swarms, snipe, venom arrow, and etc. I have to builds one for tanking and one for stam based DPS, same character. Also I play just to have fun, so I really don't care too much lol.

5 Set Seducer, 5 Set Warlock, Engine Guardian Set. 5L/2M

    143 Magicka Regen
    91 Health Regen (With GDB)
    127 Stamina Regen (With GDB)

    2.5k Max Magicka
2.9k Max Health (Without Emp Bonus)
    1.8k Max Stam

    97 Spell Damage

I don't consider myself overpowered, people call me that all the time, but it's just because I've mastered my resource management between sets and enchantments. I have low spell damage, because at least on live, spell damage didn't change enough of my damage to warrant using any. My build is completely focused on self-sustaining, and does a great job at it. If I'm 1vXing my bar is typically.

Draw Essence - Choking Talons - Flame Lash - Invasion - Reflective Plate

Draw Essence, combined with Seducer/Warlock is basically an endless supply of Magicka, if I need to heal and get resources back, I swap to my Restoration Staff.

Igneous Shield - Cinder Storm - Harness Magicka - Unstoppable - GDB

Hit Igneous and Harness, then GDB, drop 2-3 Cinder Storms, if my potions aren't recharging I use one tripot instead of GDB because it gives me resources back. If potion is on CD and Banner is charged, I drop a banner and use GDB. If I'm surrounded by 4-5 people I use Draw Essence, hit talons 2-3 times, wait until Draw Essence goes off, roll dodge out of them, swap bars, drop 2-3 cinder storms, banner if it's charged, and start the rotation over again. I hardly ever use Flame Lash unless the target is in a position that I KNOW I can get the proc to occur and get the free heal. Or if I'm inside my banner and singling someone down.

DKs aren't overpowered, I've been melted plenty of times by heal debuffs, zergs, siege, my own faults, etc. DKs don't even do that much damage, what makes them so "overpowered" is the ability to do what they do, for what seems like a never ending cycle, and it isn't their fault, it's the people that surround them and feed them ultimate' that is why DKs are so strong. But come 1.6 all that will change, and we'll see DKs more on par with other classes.
