Just an observation, but bat swarm is easily counterable. The Light Armor skill Dampen Magic renders it useless. I can stand in it 3-4 seconds without it even breaking my shield and I take zero damage since its based off spell damage. If wearing 7 light armors I get something like 1100 point shield, its like having barrier up for 30 secs against spells.

Its very effective. Honestly though they would be better off just making silver bolts ignore immovable on vamps, problem solved very simply. They pop bats, you pop silver bolts and they are knocked down immovable or not as Dampen Magic is only viable if wearing all light armor for the shield strength buff

If your willing to pop Dampen Magic then pop Hardened Ward on top of it, you can stand in it for its duration and take no damage at all.

Sorcerer's - The ONLY class in the game that is punished for using its class defining skill (Bolt Escape)

"Here in his shrine, that they have forgotten. Here do we toil, that we might remember. By night we reclaim, what by day was stolen. Far from ourselves, he grows ever near to us. Our eyes once were blinded, now through him do we see. Our hands once were idle, now through them does he speak. And when the world shall listen, and when the world shall see, and when the world remembers, that world will cease to be. - Miraak

Guys, why do you dig up such an old thread!?
This game and especially the way skills work, is undergoing major changes every 1-2 months. So... the situation of skills/specs/etc. is already outdated when it stams from August/September!

ESO vampires are all edward clones anyway. There's nothing badass about them.

My vampire in oblivion had to feed constantly or turn into a one woman fire during the day and she liked it.

But you all go have fun sparkling in the sunlight.

Oh good lord, will you people stop with the Twilight stuff already? TES Vamps were around long before Twilight.

I doubt they'll let it drop. Some people are just obsessed with Twilight and will do everything in their power to see it wherever they go. That or they prefer their favored version of vampires (Twilight's) and try to insist that every kind they come across is their beloved Edward. As much as the lil teenagers want to push their headcanon on the rest of us, though, TES's vampires have never, and never will be anything like the 'vampires' in Twilight. ;)

The skill alone is not OP. But it's how people have been using it which is OP. One could also call it good strategy. Either way, an enemy group can spam heals to everyone has their ult up and ready. More than half the people in the group are DK vamps spamming talons and bats. A tight group that is well disciplined can enter the keep and do circles up and down the stairs through the flag room and back around until EVERYTHING is dead. Simply by spamming bats and talons. THIS is when bats become OP. Only real way to counter it is to do the same thing or have the defending group drop a bunch of veils and standards with caltrops and volcanic runes to slow the impending doom coming at them. So it's possible, just hard to find people who don't just do whatever they want.
Hey everyone! Look! It's a signature!

I'm sorry for pointing out a problem in the game. I'm not bitching about it, I use it, I'm saying it's ridiculous to be able to take no damage for twenty seconds. Damage reduction shouldn't be able to stack past 99%.
This is only true to a point as Annulment ONLY absorbs Magic damage. If you are being attacked by a Stamina user you WILL still be taking damage as that Light Armor shield does nothing against physical damage. Granted it's a lower amount due to Mist. So it's inaccurate to say you take no damage for 20 seconds.

Ok nerf bats again - however in exchange.

Class based fire skills should not count as extra damage.

Not entirely sure y dk is the natural counter to everything including vamps

It's seems that after the last patch bat swarm makes the caster invulnerable to damage.

Yesterday I had some 1 vs 1 with several different bat swarmers and every time either of them swarmed, I could not damage them.

Blazing shield, impulse, blazing spear, nothing would hit them even though they were within target range. Then tried to use talons on my DK, still nothing.

I run several different add-ons and none of them registered my characters doing any damage to any bat swarmers - something they used to do prior to patch 1.3. If I hit something, I can always see it in the combat log, and further, if I hit something that doesn't take any damage, the flowing text will just display (0) damage but still notify that you're actually hitting something.

I have never experienced this prior to patch 1.3 where I regularly blazing shielded, pulsared and blazing speared many bat swarmers to near death. Prior to patch 1.3, it was always possible to damage a swarmer in 1 vs 1 - but not anymore, it seems.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

Currently PvP amounts to Impulse + bat swarm, boring.

This. One of top ranking leaderboard EP players on thorn blade does nothing but BE+fire ring+devouring swarm. Rinse and repeat. Most op ultimate in the game and doesn't take any skill to execute for massive kills. I have no issues with vamps other than this skill.

The build awards much AP. leaderboard rankings are determined SOELY based on earned AP in the campaign.

That is why that player is at the top of the leaderboard. His/her skill is irrelevant.

the top of the leader boards never means best player, it is like you said; Most ap earned. How do you do that? Well abuse the heck out of broken combos.... block casting with 1h&s with batswarm is a very good combo......
