Idea to solve outcry over set changes:

So, I anticipated big changes in the first few months of this game, so I haven't made any legendary gear yet - still hoarding those mats. If, however, I had, I can imagine I'd be pretty bummed about my gear sets completely changing.

In other MMO's I've played, when a piece of equipment that required extensive work to get or craft was changed, it was not uncommon for the devs to add an NPC in a capital city where gear could be turned in for a certain percentage of the materials invested, far more than we'd get for deconstructing.

I imagine most people would be fine with a temporary "Exchange NPC" that would refund legendary crafting materials in exchange for the item. Sure, people would still be losing the base ingredients/greens/blues/purples - but the really expensive part would be those golds. Heck, if you want be cool, refund those greens/blues/purples too!

    im also in the camp of "i knew better than to rush into it" with regards to gear... tho i craft gear, i never use anything beyond green upgrades on live.

    i do have to agree that while its ok for them to changes the effects, changing the FUNCTION is going a bit too far.

    The outcry is going to continue tho... i don't see them doing ANYTHING for those who will be negatively impacted... its not like they are completely losing their hard earned gear.. its effective use will just change...

    Easier options:
    • Grandfather existing gear
    • Don't change existing sets -- make new ones
    • When changing a set bonus, make it relevant to the same role (e.g., don't change Spell Crit to Health Recovery)

    Those would likely be a lot less work.

    Yeah, that won't happen because they're is smart enough to see that grandfathering doesn't work since some of the sets pre-1.3 would be insanely OP giving their full effects at 3 pc when the new ones need 5 pc. :smile:

    I dont know. I know if i had just blown all my mats, i would probably want them back, but as i expected changes i didnt and hoarded them.
