I think the issue is a bit more complicated. I remeber some posts from the devs about the "convert to Imperial" function. It does not change the style of the item but deletes the item from your inven…

They screwed up style as bad as possible in this game. Thank god for costumes since all the armor styles are ugly and crafting is a bad joke.

Well the person who decided all end game gear should be red is probably the same one who came up with learning styles that can't be applied to 99.99% of gear.

Since is cosmetic and wanted, I'd say ESO+ benefit. My money is on a crown store item to do the job.
