Changing Gear Motifs? When?

So how long are we still going to wait for this? LVL 50 Crafters should have a passive that unlock an option in the crafting tables to change the motif of pre-existing gear without bounding the gear. So for example if I going to sell a Spinner Inferno Staff, but the buyer wants a Dark Brotherhood staff, I could change the motif for him and sell the staff at a higher price, that would actually make crafting valuable for something and should give more sense to collect motifs, since we could use them to make a profit of existing gear fashion and change our own gear style whenever we want...

And also should give more sense to buy exclusive motifs from the crown store, since we could wear them at the moment without the need of crafting a whole new set... Its been 2 years, cmon, how long are we going to wait for this to happend? There's already more than 30 different motifs on the game right now...

"Now, to your question: this is something we have talked about, but it is more complex than you otherwise might imagine - item transmogrication can work in a limited fashion pretty easily (like the ability to change everything to Imperial Style if you own the Imperial Edition), but not something we are currently considering on a mass scale."

"Binding." Bounding is the act of applying borders or limits to something's movement. Binding is the act of tying it to someone, and is the term that ESO uses to reflect an item being locked to your account.

Honestly... I think that we should get a new "motif" costume over our gear, for any motif our characters have learned. Which changes what we're currently wearing into displaying that motif. So, if you're wearing mixed light and heavy, and equip the Dwemer Motif costume, your armor and weapons will appear to be Dwemer. (Sort of like how the preview function in the crown store works with Motifs.) It wouldn't be quite as versatile as actually being able to change an item's motif, but still.

I don't know how the game is programmed or in which language it is written, but as a developer of high level language, I can tell that with a good infrastructure (i.e. design patterns) one resource can derive in many others versions.

The game already have the Convert to Imperial, assuming the programming language supports things like this (abstract classes, interfaces...) just abstract its implementation and create N derived versions, one for each motif. You can even require that for the conversion the player must complete some condition, be it own the Imperial version or have learned from a tribal crafter NPC, have certain passive and so on.

It's noticeable for any developer that several resources in ESO are too tied to each other unnecessarily. This is one of the reasons to have bugs after a patch that theoretically shouldn't even be close to what's supposed to fix.

Wish they would implement a system like this, so many amazing motifs and none are being put to use. I wonder how the devs who are putting in work to design these motifs are feeling when they realize this. Over 45 craftable motifs and noone is using them because there is no good system in place for it. Such a shame. Really wanted to buy the Frostcaster style but I would just nerf my character into the ground by wearing only crafted sets, so why bother.

So it finally came out! After waiting for so long. I’m happy all my predictions for this game become true at some point, just don’t want to keep waiting +2 years for every mechanic I expect...
