Maw of Lorkhaj Hardmode Is Currently Impossible Due To Crashing - A Plea For A Fix.

Hey all,

I just wanted to write a brief post discussing the experience of my guild, Well-Fitted, along with the many other higher end raiding guilds previously or currently tackling the Maw of Lorkhaj (MoL) on Hardmode (HM) difficulty on the EU server. The reason I have to include the word previously in there is not because the guild has disbanded or quit, it is simply because they have ruled out attempting HM because it is currently in an unplayable state. Since the release of MoL the initial excitement was placed upon completion and then proceeding that scores and farming for various loot. Since about a month before The Dark Brotherhood many guilds began changing their focus on to the HM and this is where the problems began. Hardmode by it's very nature is extremely tough and punishing - which is great if you are a player seeking this kind of content which is not widely available in this game - but not when your fellow Guildmates are crashing on every single pull of the boss. Testing began going into how to setup a 'stable instance' for players to be able to actually get attempts into the HM without crashing, all to little avail. The current working theory is as follows: You Cannot teleport to player to remove the current invisible player bug that has existed since the Thieves Guild Update, You Must enter the instance through the main outside entrance as any form of travelling into or to another player seems to cause more instability and finally you Cannot swap any players in or out of the instance. Now, this seems like huge superstition but in doing these practices over nearly 50 runs this seems to yield the most 'stable instances'. Some also suggested that cross faction alliances also caused these instabilities but this does not seem to be the case.

Through all this though, most instances are often corrupted, causing every player in the raid group to crash on nearly every pull of the final boss. Once the crashing begins this crashing even continues through into the non-HM when simply trying to achieve a completion. As such, many guilds have given up entirely in progressing on the HM which is easily one of the most sought after and enjoyable pieces of content that the game has to offer for these communities. Guilds now choose to rerun SO for gear they have near entirely already got, to speed run this instance or speed run the normal veteran version of MoL (Without HM).

While I appreciate and understand the number of players effected by these issues are minor the MoL HM content is currently paid for but not accessible by the community. I am simply writing this post to make yet further awareness to Zenimax that this issue, much the same as those experienced with the SO HM door closing that the crashing, is effectively content baring guilds from attempting this HM. We as a community wish to enjoy the content you provide, please make it accessible to us to do so.

P.S: The crashing is random and often cannot be associated with any particular event, most crashes are straight disconnects with no bug reporter whilst others we have been able to provide feedback upon. Nothing has been done in the past 2 and 1/2 months to rectify these issues.

    I want to add that there is one more annoying problem with vMOL HM:

    The spheres after player explosion in main boss chamber can pass to the room behind the portal becoming invisible and kill players, who are aimed to stop the ritual. They almost can't be countered since they are invisible.

    If we can, we will provide video to ZOS with death recap, but it's not always easy to make this happen intentionally.

    Here on NA we have also been tackling Hardmode. However, we do not experience this what so ever. Are the crashing related to the same certain people?

    All we do is teleport straight into the instance and have had no issue of this at all, the only issue is that Australians have bad internet

    XBOX players have constant crashes in VMA on stage 7 since 2 or 3 months already (I hear about it in streams and youtube comments), so get in line :p

    I don't think it's related to how you enter the instance and stuff. There are more things on the screen in hard mode and they are poorly tested on different systems, so anything can cause a crash. For example, 1 guy from our group constantly crashed when Rakkhat casted Consuming Void. I noticed there is always some ability that triggers a crash for 1 or more players, and it's always different, so I guess it will it take long time to completely fix crashes. They will nerf the hard mode sooner lol.

    This seems more like it, it may be related to the user, have everyone repair their clients or in the worst case if it keeps happening, reinstall? On my old computer the game tended to break a lot of the time and had constant crashing and constant needing to repair. On my new PC if I hit repair now it doesn't need to repair anything since I got it.

    As for nerfing hardmode, I can see that most likely happening. The amount of planing you have to put into hardmode and the amount of time you'll have to put into it... insane. I also have a feeling we wont be seeing some clears for hardmode for quite a little while unless a guild gets lucky enough to no life it 40 hours a week for a few weeks and smash it out. I'm not saying nerf it, it's just shocking to see such a challenge like this in ESO, the amount of teamwork and precision that is needed... we have the strategy and we know how to do it, as most likely all guilds do at this point. But to pull it off is crazy to think about

    It is shocking for me because i never thought zos will ever make something like this again.
    But after 5 raids a week for months on manti when SO hits the first time, its sooo wonderfull to have such a challenge again. New Guild, less raids so it will take a bit longer for me, but i really hope it will never gets a nerf...


    Yesterday all people in raid disconnect when we start attacking the endboss. All 12 landing at the charscreen and mol was resettet. So we went to sanctum, there we dont have this problems...
    We will try the repair stuff and i hope it works...

    Please, don't nerf hardmode. Its mechanics are in a good spot right now. HM provides real challenge for a group full of people who are capable to do normal Rakkhat without death, not impossible, but slow and steady progress, just like when we first came to normal Rakkhat.
    I really enjoyed HM content when we managed to get crashless night, but since then we get crashes almost every pull =__=

    Yep, was so much fun, when we could play some hours without any crashing. Pls don't nerf, only fix those constant crashes.

    There are just too few people left in ESO who can do hardcore pve progress etc raiding :p For example, most WoW raids are much harder and have 10x more mechanics, but ESO lost many good players after 1.6 patch. I'm sure HODOR could clear it if they would have a leader who could slap them for stamina roleplaying on mantikora :D

    Is completely on ZOS' side, multiple guilds giving up on attempting the HM for experiencing the same issue, most of the players of which also do some of most lagg inducing content in game such as PvP zerging. Never seen crashing like this not even comparable to PvP, there is no frame lagg, you just stutter and then get kicked. Sometimes you get a crash reporter but rarely.

    I'll be returning later this summer to do just that ;) I just hope they don't nerf Hard Mode before I have chance to give it a decent attempt.

    The new vet loot (pts patch) for mol is a good sign they will not nerf hardmode.
    Now with golden jewerly and also the small chance to get golden worm, eben and hircine stuff from "normal" vet, you dont need hm for this. So nobody can cry about :+1:

    Completely agree that it needs to be fixed, but the whole "stack at the door and go in together" is a placebo effect.

    On the other side, when you have a really good loot via HM that you can't obtain anywhere else it makes more ppl to try HM and more ppl who would like to pass it. And after it is done by some ammount of guilds it starts to be slightly nerfed. In my opinon it's working nice in WoW.

    It happened the same to us though we did the final boss without HM.
    During the fights our player disconnected several times.
    At the final boss during the execution phase 3 of us got disconnected at the exact same same time, crashed to the desktop.
    When we logged back 2 of us didn't get the achievement, the skin, couldn't even turn in the quest.
    We practiced weeks for this run and now we have nothing.

    I used to crash often on the final boss in vmol/vmol hm. I read somewhere about a sound bug causing the crashes. I found that turning off game sound on Rhakkat has fixed that particular problem. However, over the past few weeks there have been other bugs like adds going back and forth, twins not staying taunted etc. I’m on xbox na.
