Have you bought many times with this practice? Because i would never agree to that as a seller, since crowns equal real money, while gold is "just" an ingame currency.
And to the OP and others: there is an official statement from ZOS that selling crowns for gold is a buyers aware market, and they do not intent do step in if someone gets scammed. Im sad to hear that you lost ingame gold, but as many said: there are some efficient ways to almost guarantee that you wont get scammed during the process.
Got crown scammed
Got crown scammed for 900k back in March. Sent screenshots of scammer's username and character name in a ticket. I thought that was the worst of it. I thought Zos had my back. To this day absolutely zero gold has been returned to me by customer support. Well, I refuse to play a game, much less give them my hard-earned money, when they don't even care enough to see to it that you are made whole after an incident like this. They don't even give you closure. They say, "We'll recover your stolen items if we can"(but we won't tell you when we decide not to). And by the way, we won't be communicating with you about our actions against the offender.

Living dark/Unstable core overbuff;
Ritual being cleanse, soft cc, damage and heal tool at the same time while twisting path was nerfed because of being damage and healing skill at the same time;
PoTL/Purifying Light being bugged (in favor of templars) for very long.
Templars as the only ones evading cast time on burst ult.
Many of those things were balanced after some time bringing templars more in line with vanilla classes, that's true, but please stop overreacting.
This patch minor/major tweaks we can see for magblades bring only nerfs, while templars now get unique (very easy) access to minor sorcery, minor breach and all 3 minor recovery's which all got buffed.
Are templars top class? For sure no! Are they bottom class? No way.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. I wish more people learned this valuable lesson.
People should not put up with discrimination, though. Things like racism, sexism etc lead to much more than just "hurt feelings". Of course, harassment in games is only a small part of a big problem, but it doesn't mean that it's not a problem at all.

I give you some example.
Stamplar and Stamcro, both builds medium armor ~5.5k weapon damage.
Power of the light hits 2.5-3.5k if opponent is not potato and not standing just eating jabs.
Power of the light hits 4-5k if you land dawnbreaker and make him eat full jabs for 6 seconds (in that scenario your opponent probably got disconnected in middle of fight anyway).
Power of the light can be purged (warden,necro 1 click free purge button).
Pierce armor will give minor fracture + major fracture next patch, power of the light debuff useless.
Meanwhile blighted blastbones hit for 6k+ and apply major defile and undodgeable. Even with major defile nerf it still hits like dawnbreaker and theoretically you can land 2 blastbones in 6 seconds.

So it’s wrong to inform people of the problem and wrong to try to get the attention of ZOS so they will fix it? Hmmm. Can’t say I agree with you there. It’s important to discuss issues like this so people know what to watch out for and people who have experienced similar things know they aren’t alone.
Edit: Also, you do realize this goes way beyond “being mean” right? Based on OP’s description, this sounds like legit hate speech meant to intimidate and degrade. So yeah, I don’t blame her for being upset.

I am so sorry to hear you had a bad experience. And please don’t listen to people who say you shouldn’t let it bother you, they don’t understand what it’s like at all.
