Yes, ZOS has already confirmed that ESO ps4 will be compatible on the ps5. They also said we'll be (eventually) getting a ps5 native version upgrad for free.

How many characters do you have? If you are at 18, I can sort of understand. But if not, then just create a new one.
1. That's 18 if you pay
2. I have one free slot, 3 if you count mules, but I would never ever want to just drop my main and "create a new one". Because I have achievements earned, motifs and recipes learned, horse trained, and, most importantly, I have quests done on that specific character. She has her story. You know, that important moment when NPC in chapter recognizes you because you got rid of skeevers in his basement in the starting zone or something? It's like proposing someone ditch their kid and just "make a new one".
I personally have 1 character for actually reading the story, and getting achievements. The other 10 characters are simply to play the game as a different class. If you feel it is required for any character you have to be a completionist character, then It it what it is. Me, I find that to be pointless.
